Chapter 8: Beast Selection
Bloodline ranks.
It gave a rough idea of how far a beast could grow in strength.
Ordinary Bloodline, their strength would cap at maximum 2 stars.
Mortal Bloodline, their strength reached their ceiling at maximum 3 stars or rarely 4 stars.
Super Bloodline, could grow till 5 stars or in extreme rare case 6 stars.
Noble Bloodline, maximum 7 stars.
Royal Bloodline, 7 stars is easily achieved by them, but some have the capabilities to reach 8 stars or rival them in strength.
And lastly the strongest Bloodline,
Divine Bloodline, 9 stars are to be expected of them, but they are said to even become a God Beast if given time. But nobody knows the truth as no one could remain alive near them to test it.
---
As soon as people saw the variety of beasts in cages, they ran to see them.
A guard voice rang out.
"Don't be reckless and try to tame a beast stronger than you, you may risk getting a backlash. Worst case, you die."
Everyone nodded and began looking for their new beasts.
Most beasts were in bad shape so the new comer's won't have much difficulty taming them.
Soon enough a fight broke out for the ownership of a beast.
Leo saw the beast behind them, a battered and bruised bear lying on the cage floor. It had sharp tusks and patchy metallic skin.
"I first saw this bear, so its mine!" A bearded middle aged man with rough looks shouted.
Leo saw the beast details and was taken back instantly.
🔸️ Ironhide Boar(Low 2★) – Mortal Bloodline.
Personality: Aggressive against weaker foes, panics against real danger.
"What type of logic is that! Doesn't it mean that if I see your wife first thing in the morning, I get to keep her?" Another young lively man with brown hairs jabbed back.
"You—! Watch your tongue boy before it falls off!" The bearded man was getting red with fury.
Just then he heard a same irritating voice from another corner.
"Tsk. Pathetic commoners, even if they receive nobility status they remain the same."
Zolton was standing beside a cage which was being unlocked a guard. Looks like he had chosen his beast here itself.
It was a wolf type beast, with dark grey fur and red, orange lining over its body. It fangs dripped hot saliva which looked like lava, that made it look dangerous and strong.
Leo looked at the beast details.
🔸️Ashfang Hyena(Peak 1★) – Mortal Bloodline.
Personality: Packs well with others, cruel to weaker prey, runs from stronger beasts.
Do similar type attract eachother? Keke, its fun. Keep training that thing for when it runs away faster when fighting.
Leo didn't choose his beast quickly, he kept roaming around the place.
Well, I have time till evening.
He kept scanning various beasts.
🔸️Fangsnout Boar(Peak 1★): Stocky black boar with short tusks, bristly mane, and mud-caked legs.
Mortal Bloodline
Personality: Aggressive when provoked, but otherwise obedient. Loves charging blindly.
🔸️Bog Lizard(Mid 1★) – Green, slimy reptile with short legs.
Ordinary Bloodline
Personality: Lazy, ambush predator.
🔸️Hollow-Eyed Hare(Low 1★) – White rabbit with eerie dark circles around its eyes.
Ordinary Bloodline.
Personality: Skittish, endlessly reproduces, good for training but useless in real battle.
Eek! They even got a gooner rabbit in here.
He kept looking.
🔸️ Ashplume Crow(High 1★): Scruffy crow with feathers that look singed at the tips. Hoarse caw and one eye squinted.
Ordinary Bloodline
Personality: Mocking and noisy, likes to bully weaker beasts. Not loyal, but pretends if treated well.
🔸️Cinder Mongoose(mid 1★): Sleek, orange-brown mongoose with faint ash streaks on its back and nimble claws.
Mortal Bloodline
Personality: Curious and brave, but reckless. Likes to pick fights with beasts much bigger than itself.
No. Something Better.
He finally spotted a Super Bloodline beast.
🔸️Ironmane Cub(Mid 1★): Scrawny lion cub with patchy fur and a dull, wiry mane that looks like rusted straw. Eyes burning faintly amber as if angered.
Super Bloodline.
Personality: Proud but patient. Endures beatings silently and never lowers its gaze, even when outmatched. Shows hints of leadership.
This guy looks great, but lets see more...
He spotted a few more Super types.
🔸️Stormwing Jay(Mid 1★): Small, thin bird with pale-blue feathers that look faded and frayed, wings twitch in restless bursts.
Super Bloodline.
Personality: Quick-tempered and bold. Tries to fight beasts much larger than itself. Refuses to back down once engaged.
🔸️Grimscale Pupfish(Low 1★): Tiny, bony fish with dull silver scales and bulging eyes. Barely moves in its water trough, looks half-dead.
Super Bloodline.
Personality: Tenacious beyond reason — survives without food, clings to life under impossible conditions. Shows flashes of sudden ferocity when threatened.
By now, he had circled and again reached at the beginning. Most people had already selected their beast and went away for further process in the Beast Hall building.
Hmm... I guess super bloodlines are the only ones here.
He decided to get the Ironmane cub for himself. It seemed the best choice.
But he spotted something at the corner of a shadowy, empty looking cage.
He squinted his eyes to get a clear view.
🔸️Obsidian Panther Cub(Low 1★) – Noble Bloodline.
Personality: Calculating, cautious, and a lonewolf, but immensely loyal if bonded early.
Noble Bloodline!
The cub looked like a household black cat. And it was barely visible when in the shadowed area of the cage. On closer look, it looked tired and weak. But still strong.
No wonder everyone ignored it. It's just under their nose!
It even is a lonewolf. Which means it can work independently, this is good.
Leo quickly called the guard who was wearing a simple light armor over a orange Beast Hall uniform.
The guard was confused as it was empty cage. But then he also spotted the cub.
"A cat? Are you sure about your decision to tame it? I mean it looks like a normal cat, or it might just really be an animal. Who knows?" The guard found it proper to say it to him.
"Yes, I am sure I want to tame it. I have a common rank soul, so I am not confident in taming stronger beasts." Leo responded with a straight face.
"Ohh... well if you say so."
Leo noticed that the guard wasn't mocking or anything. Then he realised why.
This guy is not a beast master...
With that, the guard opened the cage, and the cub was brought out and kept in front of Leo.
"Now, put your hand forward and try to concentrate on your talent." The guard instructed.
Leo did as he said and raised his one hand forward. He closed his eyes and tried to focus on his talent.
A warm yellow light started to radiate from his hands and went straight for the cub.
The cub was startled by the sudden sensation, but quickly calmed down, letting the light settle on his body.
It was a success.
Ding!
