Chapter 15 - Bai Paopao

Since the start of the combat training sessions, the other students had witnessed Gu Xun's strength—truly unimaginable.

After all, even Dong Qianqiu, the strongest in the class, had been taken down instantly by Gu Xun. The others were no match at all.

At lunchtime, Gu Xun casually pulled out a Sweet Flower Brewed Chicken to get by.

He'd long wanted to sample the delicacies from Genshin Impact. Having downloaded the Genshin mod, he decided to try one out.

"Hmm, salty and sweet. Not bad at all."

Gu Xun could produce Genshin foods of strange, ordinary, or delicious quality. Consuming them granted special effects.

For instance, restoring HP, stamina, boosting attack, defense, critical rate, speed, and even cultivation speed—likely due to the fusion with the Douluo Dalu mod.

In other words, Gu Xun could even pull out a five-star artifact from Genshin as his martial spirit, or even an Eye of the God as his martial spirit.

In short, the possibilities are vast—Gu Xun can do as he pleases. The afternoon session was dedicated to theoretical lessons.

Gu Xun nearly dozed off listening, so he decided to raise a small pet to amuse himself.

But what kind of pet should he get? A dragon would be too outrageous. He couldn't keep something like a three-eyed golden lion that would run wild.

Finally, Gu Xun's gaze fell upon the blue figure to his right front, and an idea struck him instantly.

He produced a transparent aquarium about fifty centimeters long, filled it with seawater, and then focused directly on the spirit beast spawn egg.

His focus settled on the Spawn Egg of the Demon Spirit Great White Shark King—the royal bloodline of the Demon Spirit Great White Shark clan.

To avoid accidentally releasing a hundred-thousand-year-old soul beast, Gu Xun used a regulator to set the egg's age to one year.

He placed the egg into the tank, and a tiny Demon Spirit Great White Shark King pup, about five centimeters long, appeared.

"Huh? It's a female?"

Gu Xun stared in surprise at the little shark swimming happily in the water. Dong Qianqiu first felt a stirring within her own bloodline before turning to look.

She saw that a large water tank had appeared on Gu Xun's desk at some point, containing a small shark swimming inside.

Gu Xun dripped some Lake of Life water into it, ensuring it wouldn't starve to death. He then tossed in some tiny meat scraps and algae.

Gu Xun wasn't sure whether young Demon Spirit Great White Sharks ate meat or algae, so he simply added both.

"Dong Qianqiu, please pay attention in class."

Just then, the teacher at the front suddenly called Dong Qianqiu's name. Gu Xun looked up at the sound and caught Dong Qianqiu quickly turning back around.

"Sorry, teacher."

"Don't let it happen again."

Seeing this, Gu Xun withdrew his gaze and returned his attention to the little shark in the tank. The teacher dared not reprimand Gu Xun.

According to information from the dean, Gu Xun had at least a titled Douluo-level powerhouse backing him. This teacher was merely a Spirit Grand Master, far too low-ranking to dare confront Gu Xun.

However, Dong Qianqiu had no such connections. With her talent, the teacher didn't want to see such a promising student go to waste.

That's why, when Dong Qianqiu was daydreaming in class, the teacher called her name, urging her to pay attention.

The afternoon theory class soon ended. Gu Xun stroked the little shark in the aquarium before storing both the tank and its occupant into his storage ring, preparing to leave.

"Wait, please wait a moment."

Just as Gu Xun was about to depart, a crisp female voice called out to him.

Hearing someone address him, Gu Xun paused and turned to look at Dong Qianqiu.

Dong Qianqiu, noticing Gu Xun looking at her, seemed unsure how to begin, appearing somewhat awkward at social interaction.

"What is it?"

Gu Xun's voice carried a neutral tone. After gathering her thoughts, Dong Qianqiu spoke:

"Gu... Gu Xun, may I see the shark you keep?"

Dong Qianqiu felt an uncanny familiarity with the shark Gu Xun kept, as if it were a kindred spirit.

"...Go ahead."

Gu Xun placed the aquarium on the table. Dong Qianqiu, overcome by a sense of comforting familiarity, stared intently at the small shark before him.

"This... it resembles my martial spirit

Dong Qianqiu examined the Demon Spirit Great White Shark before her, feeling an overwhelming sense of familiarity. Then it hit her—wasn't this her own martial spirit?

"This is the child of a Demon Spirit Great White Shark King. I found and raised it."

"Demon Spirit Great White Shark King..."

Dong Qianqiu faltered at the name. Gu Xun glanced at the amnesiac Demon Spirit Great White Shark King before him, a mischievous amusement rising in his heart.

"Bai Paopao."

At the sound of that name, Dong Qianqiu's pupils suddenly contracted. As if reacting to a stimulus, she abruptly lifted her head to look at Gu Xun.

Dong Qianqiu stared blankly at Gu Xun, feeling that the name Bai Paopao seemed incredibly familiar.

It felt like it came from someone... incredibly important... yet Dong Qianqiu couldn't recall anything else.

"Hey, are you okay? Why are you crying?"
