Chapter 29 - The Gold-Medal Support

Gu Xun looked at Dong Qianqiu and reminded her of the location of his room, telling Dong Qianqiu to come find him anytime if she encountered any problems.

Dong Qianqiu nodded in agreement. After Gu Xun left, Dong Qianqiu glanced around the cozy little room and felt it was quite nice.

Dong Qianqiu sat on the large bed, feeling its softness. Then, glancing toward the window, she took in the nightscape and starry sky outside.

"There are fireflies too!"

Spotting the faint glow of fireflies flickering in the forest, Dong Qianqiu rose from the bed and approached the window.

She gazed at the tranquil forest, the fireflies shimmering within it, and the emerald-green light dancing on the surface of the small lake of life.

Dong Qianqiu realized she rather liked this scenery. She even spotted Paopao dancing in the water.

After leaning against the window to observe the fireflies in the forest and the fish swimming in the lake, she lifted her gaze to the sky.

The starry sky filled her vision, countless brilliant stars sparkling across the cosmos.

"How beautiful. It's been ages since I last saw the stars. Though, the sky in Heaven Dou Planet doesn't seem as lovely as the one on Elf Planet."

Dong Qianqiu murmured. After gazing at the night sky for a while longer, she prepared to wash up and go to sleep.

Soon, the night passed. Gu Xun and the others were getting ready to explore Heaven Dou Planet. Gu Xun looked at Yuan Enhuihui and Di Qiu'er, who had already packed their things.

"Shall we go then?"

"Yay! Let's go play!"

Yuan Enhuihui perked up at the prospect of adventure, while Di Qiu'er was equally curious about how the human world had evolved.

Dong Qianqiu had little to pack—her belongings fit neatly into a small backpack.

Soon, the group arrived at Heaven Dou Planet. Yuan Enhuihui and Di Qiu'er looked around with wide-eyed wonder, like country bumpkins visiting the city.

Following closely behind Gu Xun and the others was Di Tian, who was practically acting as their personal attendant.

Finally, Di Tian led them to an amusement park. Gu Xun watched silently as Yuan Enhuihui, Di Qiu'er, and Dong Qianqiu rode the carousel.

It was perfectly normal for them to ride the carousel. Yuan Enhuihui was a regular kid, Di Qiu'er, though a spirit beast in human form, had a similar mindset, and Dong Qianqiu was no different.

Me? Ride a carousel? Are you kidding me! If I did that, where would my dignity as a master go?

"Does the young master dislike it?"

Seeing Gu Xun's silence, Di Tian asked. Gu Xun shot him a disapproving glance.

"Have you forgotten something?"

Di Tian remembered Gu Xun carried some memories from his previous life as the Dragon God.

[T/N: For those who don't remember, he lied that he is the Dragon God's reincarnation and has some memories of that time]

Di Tian pictured his master riding a carousel—it would shatter Gu Xun's dignity to pieces.

"I'm sorry for my oversight, My Lord."

"Never mind. Let the youngsters have their fun. I don't mind."

Gu Xun shrugged. He couldn't possibly ride such a thing. If he did, how would Di Tian regard him? How could he maintain his dignity?

"Lord Brother, why aren't you riding?"

Yuan Enhuihui noticed Gu Xun hadn't boarded the carousel and immediately dismounted to ask.

"You kids go ahead. I'm fine without it."

"Is my Lord Brother feeling shy? It's okay, come play with Huihui!"

Yuan Enhuihui tugged Gu Xun onto the carousel as Di Tian discreetly averted his gaze—all in the name of preserving his master's dignity.

After hoisting Gu Xun aboard, Yuan Enhuihui promptly pushed him toward the nearest horse.

"Come on, Brother, don't be shy!"

"I really don't want to do this!"

Yuan Enhuihui shoved Gu Xun onto the nearest rocking horse—which, as luck would have it, was the one Dong Qianqiu was sitting on.

"Yikes!"

Dong Qianqiu hadn't expected Gu Xun to be pushed up, and even less that he'd end up sharing her rocking horse. Fortunately, it was large enough for them to maintain some distance.

"Brother, there's still space over there. Move over a bit so Huihui can sit with you."

Yuan Enhuihui said, giving Gu Xun a shove. Instantly, Gu Xun and Dong Qianqiu were pressed together.

"Huihui! You actually used spirit power!"

Gu Xun sensed Yuan En Huihui's spirit power, while Huihui grinned and climbed onto the rocking horse.

"Don't be shy, Brother. Play with Huihui."

Dong Qianqiu was sitting sideways on the wooden horse, her entire body now pressed against Gu Xun's chest.

Her cheeks flushed crimson. She wanted to get off, but they were packed so tightly she couldn't move.

Gu Xun felt the soft, delicate body in his arms and Yuan Enhuihui clinging to his back. He had reason to suspect Yuan Enhuihui was doing this on purpose.

Over here, three people sat on one rocking horse. Di Qiu'er watched the three across from her sharing the same horse, feeling as if she'd been left out.

"Brother, move over a bit more. Huihui is going to fall off."

Yuan Enhuihui nudged Gu Xun forward, pressing him and Dong Qianqiu tightly together.

The atmosphere grew suddenly charged. Dong Qianqiu's cheeks flushed crimson as she leaned against Gu Xun's chest, head bowed in silence.

Gu Xun felt incredibly awkward too, remaining silent. Both Dong Qianqiu and Gu Xun were stiff as boards, while Yuan Enhuihui alone seemed to be having a blast.

Di Qiu'er sat alone on the wooden horse, as if forgotten.

After about ten minutes, Yuan Enhuihui climbed down when he'd had enough. Gu Xun quickly dismounted too.

"Sorry."

"I... I'm fine..."

Dong Qianqiu fidgeted awkwardly, twirling a strand of hair. The air between them thickened with unease and a hint of ambiguity.
