Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 : Companions

—Now, class, let's break down the first of the two additional classifications: a Transformer's combat role —the professor continued, his tone energetic—. Think of it like a military unit: every Transformer has a specialty that defines how they fight, how they support others, and how they approach a battlefield.

—There are four types —he began, a playful glint in his eye—, and each has its own role on the battlefield.

He leaned slightly on his desk with a casual grin

—Assault types —he continued—, those are the ones who throw themselves straight into close combat. You'll see them on the front lines most of the time. They're strong, fast, and make up more than half of all Transformers.

He straightened up, tapping his fingers together.

—Support types don't face the enemy head-on, but they're just as important. They heal, protect, reinforce… basically keep the team alive and functioning. Not as common as Assault, but without them, the whole system falls apart.

A slight smirk appeared as he leaned back, eyes scanning the students.

—Then there are Scouts. They're not combat specialists, but experts in exploration, reconnaissance, and stealth. They move quickly, slip into places no one else can, and gather information that can turn the tide. There aren't many of them, but their impact is huge.

He raised an eyebrow, folding his hands.

—And finally Artillery, or long-range types —he said, shrugging—, they control the battlefield from a distance. Fewer of them, but deadly wherever they are.

He leaned forward slightly, voice dropping in a conspiratorial tone:

—Obviously, most Transformers don't fit neatly into a single category —he said, waving a hand slightly—. Many of them are hybrids, blending traits from two or even three roles. An Assault type might have some Scout skills, a Specialist might carry a bit of Support ability. It's rare to find someone who's purely one thing; these combinations make every Transformer unique and unpredictable in the field.

—And remember —Victor added, with a knowing smile—, each Transformer naturally excels in a primary role because of their physical abilities and unique traits. Strength, speed, endurance, senses, or even mental acuity: these define where they shine the most. Your main role reflects what your body and instincts are built for, though, as I said, many of you will borrow from a second role to become more versatile.

—Now, class, let's look at another way to classify a Transformer: by their form —said Victor Kael, walking between the rows with an animated gesture—. Obviously, each one has a primary inclination, but often they mix traits.

—First, the Humanoids. The most common form: they maintain proportions similar to a human. They are versatile and quite adaptable.

—Next, the Beast or Animal types. Their form resembles some animal or creature. Speed, strength, heightened senses… perfect for ambushes or rapid movements.

—Then, the Hybrids. Very rare, they combine traits from two different types, mixing advantages: strength and agility, defense and speed… They tend to be unique in their species and stand out for their extraordinary adaptability.

—And finally, the Uniques. These are one of a kind, with incredibly unusual forms. For example, the famous King Rat: his form splits into dozens of rats that move in coordinated patterns.

—Any questions before we wrap up this theme? —asked Victor Kael with a lively gesture, his hands resting lightly on the desk.

—Alright, then —he continued—,

With a playful smile and a relaxed gesture, he began sharing some more trivial details: how certain Transformers react under stress, curiosities about extreme transformations, or anecdotes about veteran students. He spoke naturally, mixing humor with expressive gestures, making the time pass without the students even noticing.

Finally, the bell rang, marking the official end of the class. Marcus's classmates began to leave the class. But two of them approached him.

They both seemed to be around his age and had black eyes. The first was a girl wearing the school uniform, white and navy blue, with straight black hair falling just past her shoulders, standing around 1.65 meters tall. She was strikingly attractive, with confident black eyes that drew attention. The second was a taller, more robust figure, about 1.87 meters, with dark skin and black hair styled upwards, dressed in a black tracksuit. He exuded a fierce, commanding aura that made his presence feel intense.

The girl smiled warmly and extended her hand toward Marcus.

—Hi, I'm Liora Kade, and this is my brother, Rylan. It's a pleasure to be classmates with you —she said, giving his hand a brief shake. Behind her, Rylan, simply nodded in acknowledgment, letting her do the talking. After a moment, they exchanged a few polite words before stepping back, letting Marcus settle in.

After gathering his things, Marcus headed to his next class: Survival Techniques. As he walked, he noted that the classes were very short—each core subject lasted just about an hour per day. The Academy was intense; the structured lessons occupied the morning, and afterward, students could participate in additional training, optional courses, or sparring sessions. The schedule was designed to maximize exposure and practical experience, giving every Transformer the chance to refine skills, test their powers, and grow stronger under controlled conditions.

Marcus walked down the hallway, still half in his own head, replaying the first class over and over. He scrolled through his phone, checking class forums, trying to make sense of it all, when Victor Kael caught up to him.

Victor smiled with a hint of mischief and asked, "So, how was the class? Did you enjoy it?"

"Good… really interesting," Marcus said

Victor kept pace with him, completely casual. "Well, in two weeks, we've got the first exam. Survival test."

Marcus froze for a split second, blinking at him. Survival test? He says it like it's nothing… "Wait, what do you mean, survival test?"

"Well," Victor continued, still walking beside him, hands casually behind his back, "we're taking all the first-years into a forest. The idea is simple: you survive, you earn points. Points can come from all sorts of things—hunting monsters, completing objectives, exploring dangerous areas… and, if you're bold enough, even taking credits from your classmates.

He slowed slightly, giving Marcus a more serious look. "Also, the school board has decided that, since you joined the course late, we don't think you'll be ready by the day of the exam. So you'll be assigned a teacher, and you'll go through an intensive two-week training to catch up. It'll be tough, but it's the only way to make sure you're prepared."

Marcus swallowed and nodded, fully accepting the situation. "When does it start?" he asked calmly.

"Immediately," Victor replied without hesitation, his tone steady as ever. "You'll be leaving for the academy today. Make sure your family knows you'll be gone for the next two weeks."

Marcus pulled out his phone while walking beside Victor. "Okay," he said, dialing his family. "I'll be staying at the academy for the next two weeks. Everything's fine—they're just putting me through some intensive training."
