Disclosure

This is actually an original story that I'm writing I heard that novel Don't get too much traction because most of them are behind a pay wall among other reasons I want my story to get traction because I love hearing people's opinions on it feedback and criticisms Plus I just want to make a good story to entertain even if you were looking for a fan pic If you stick around I hope you enjoy

Prologue

and It ended in heaven when you held on to me

Imagine if someone stabs you in the heart.

Blood is gushing out.

Vital connections have been severed.

And survival is now-gone.

In this case, your life is over. It's done.

But sometimes... your heart still beats.

Even though survival has been pushed to zero, your heart still desperately tries to beat-for something.

For even the smallest sliver of a chance at life.

Whenever I think about that, it makes me wonder

Why does life fight so hard to live, even when survival is zero?

When we know there's no chance of us surviving, we still try to save ourselves.

Or at least... save another.

Is life so desperate to reproduce that, even when there's no chance of it happening, we still try?

Or maybe... it's more than that.

Survival, at the end of the day, is pointless-

considering we're all going to die.

Our descendants will die too.

Sooner or later, our entire family tree will be gone.

All the struggles our ancestors endured to keep that tree alive will be forgotten-

and meaningless.

???: "Selene... Selene... Selene!"

So why do we fight?

Why do we do more than survive?

And why are we so afraid to die?

Just what...

Just what does it mean to live?

And why, when I look up and see the one who plunged that blade into my heart,

it beats faster—

not out of fear or anxiety,

but out of something I thought had no place in my heart... love.

I have no regrets,

but one:

I don't want to die

before I know why my heart still beats for you.

Hazel

"SELENE!"

The sound of gunfire jolted me awake.

A split second later, a bullet came flying toward my head.

I grabbed the nearest dictionary and blocked it without much thought.

It clattered against the book, and I looked up-

Standing in front of me was a dark-skinned short-haired girl, wearing oversized boyish clothing.

Short black hair, semi-automatic pistol aimed right at my face,

and a gleeful smile stretched across hers.

Hazel (grinning) "Look who's finally awake-ex-Foundation associate, Selene."
