Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: Shocking Reversal

Chapter 89: Shocking Reversal—Kusanagi Sword: Longsword of the Sky!

Uchiha Tsukasa suddenly clenched his fists, dark chakra surging throughout his body.

He activated his forbidden technique—Physical Regeneration—with all his might, suppressing all negative conditions within his body and forcibly repairing the damage.

He smashed through pillars of lightning and burst through torrents of water. Swinging the meter-long pitch-black spear in a wide arc, he leaped beyond the ninjutsu's range and hurled it with tremendous force.

Then, seizing the opportunity while Hayato blocked, he dove forward, his water blade dragging sparks across the ground.

From bottom to top, he slashed upward at his opponent with a rising strike.

After this series of battles, Tsukasa's ninja tool pouch now contained only three shuriken, one kunai, and a few senbon needles that were of little use in this situation.

This meant the next time he used ninja tools, he'd have to strike Hayato's vital points decisively.

Otherwise, once his forbidden technique expired, he would lose.

At this moment—

Hayato narrowed his eyes. After a brief moment of surprise, he quickly recovered his composure.

He noticed that after that astonishing display of rapid regeneration, the brat's movements seemed less agile.

He quickly concluded that the opponent's immortality was a forbidden technique consuming massive amounts of stamina.

With such unreasonable regeneration capabilities, the kid wouldn't be able to sustain it much longer.

With this thought, Hayato immediately turned and fled, determined to drag the battle into a war of attrition.

Then a ridiculous scene unfolded on the battlefield.

Tōgō Hayato, the leader of the Jashin Cult, was being chased and slashed at by Uchiha Tsukasa, blade in hand.

Seeing that his opponent showed no intention of fighting like a proper jōnin but instead kept fleeing around the barrier, Tsukasa had no way to stop him.

He wasn't skilled in long-range offensive ninjutsu, and he had few ninja tools left, saving them for the critical moment.

As time ticked away, anxiety surged within him.

Under the influence of dark chakra, his breathing quickened and his eyes reddened.

Then uncontrollable rage ignited in his pupils!

Tsukasa suddenly lunged forward, stabbing into the ground. Heedless of his palm sizzling from friction, he forcibly pried a stone from the cave floor and crushed it in his grip.

He then hurled the scattered fragments with all his might, roaring furiously:

"Stop! Stand still!"

"What are you running for?!"

"Stop running!"

"You—a jōnin with an immortal body—are afraid of a Genin like me?!"

"Come on! Come and fight me!"

"Fight to the last drop of blood!"

The stones flew in chaotic yet perfect arcs, ricocheting toward Hayato and forcing him to dodge.

However, upon hearing Tsukasa's words, Hayato not only didn't stop—he actually ran even faster.

He cursed inwardly as he fled:

"Genin?! You call that a Genin?! What kind of Genin has throwing techniques I can't even comprehend?!"

"And this inexplicable surge of chakra, and regeneration even more terrifying than the Jashin Cult's immortality!"

Hayato had never encountered such a bizarre opponent before. This kid was even more sinister than Jashin-sama himself!

At that moment—

The pale red barrier within the field suddenly trembled.

A cold light flashed outside the barrier, and then—it shattered!

"Kusanagi Sword: Longsword of the Sky!"

An ancient blade soared through the air, its edge piercing the barrier's weak point while extending infinitely—stretching nearly a hundred meters in length.

With one strike, it hit the core seal maintaining the barrier.

With a light slash—

The pale red barrier collapsed and shattered, quickly dissolving into nothingness.

Then—

Clatter! Clatter! Clatter!

Suddenly, from a dark corner of the cave, a burst of urgent footsteps echoed.

In the dark corner of the cavern—

Orochimaru narrowed his eyes, watching the battle within the barrier.

More specifically, he was watching the Jashin Cult's leader, Tōgō Hayato.

He didn't particularly care about the battle itself—he simply wanted to capture the man and interrogate him about this so-called "immortality" technique.

However, the barrier before him blocked his path.

Looking at it, Orochimaru raised an eyebrow slightly. He pressed a finger against it, and ripples immediately appeared on the pale red surface.

"Is this... the regeneration barrier technique from Uzushiogakure?"

The knowledgeable Orochimaru immediately recognized the barrier's origins.

He knew many ways to break it.

However, on the other side of the cavern stood a group of Uchiha with unknown motives—especially that stern-faced man, the Police Force captain, Uchiha Fugaku.

That man gave him a sense of danger.

So he suppressed his inner impatience and silently observed the battle unfolding within the barrier.

However, at that moment—

He saw Uchiha Tsukasa, with three thick black spears piercing his forehead, thigh, and chest, suddenly open his crimson Sharingan.

Then the brat calmly removed the spears and climbed to his feet.

Furthermore, the wounds were healing at a visible rate.

"Wait... this... this..."

Seeing this, Orochimaru's pupils suddenly constricted, and he gasped, uttering the technique's name:

"Forbidden Technique: Physical Regeneration!"

A surge of excitement washed over him, his heart pounding.

A gleam of brilliance suddenly flashed in his golden eyes!

Quickly, with his full attention focused on Tsukasa, he analyzed the situation.

"Is this... the brat we encountered on the city wall?"

"Hmm? He's emitting the same sinister chakra fluctuations as Shinnō, and using that technique."

"That's right!" Orochimaru's breath caught.

"No wonder Shinnō exposed himself on the city wall."

"This brat must be his disciple!"

He had a rough understanding of the Jashin Cult's immortality through information relayed by his summoned white snakes.

That physique's recovery rate wasn't particularly fast—it only achieved basic 'immortality.'

He'd returned here solely to extract the cult's secret technique to see if it could be improved, though he hadn't held high expectations.

It was simply to satisfy his collector's obsession.

During this period, Orochimaru—like the future Kabuto Yakushi—believed that mastering countless forbidden techniques would allow him to achieve his dream of immortality.

But Orochimaru had never anticipated such a magnificent surprise!

"This is truly remarkable!"

Orochimaru licked his lips, his gaze suddenly becoming intense.

Chakra surged in his throat, and he suddenly spat out his Kusanagi sword. Biting the hilt, he formed hand seals with both hands, raised his head, and swung it forward.

The Kusanagi sword soared into the air. Its blade swelled in the wind, its tip piercing the barrier's surface and driving inward.

Orochimaru cast aside all thoughts—of the Uchiha, of caution, of waiting.

He was going to claim this brat right now!
