Chapter 246 - Chapter 246: Clues from the Stone Tablet

"Old Bat, you cheated!"

Even Venom Robin himself hadn't realized he had such an easily exploitable weakness. His gaze followed the Vibranium resonance patch in Batman's hand, not resting until the thin object was tucked away into the utility belt.

"You don't need to use the Vibranium resonance patch. Let's go again!" Venom Robin refused to admit defeat.

Batman held his fists up, one in front of the other. He opened the front fist into a palm and beckoned to Venom Robin.

"Here I co—"

Bonk!

"That doesn't count! You're not allowed to use sonic gadgets! Start over!"

Bonk!

"Still doesn't count!"

Bonk!

Bonk!

"Stop hitting me!"

Venom Robin sat on the ground clutching his head, practically having a breakdown as he begged Batman for mercy, trying to awaken some fatherly love.

In just three or four minutes, Venom Robin had launched seven or eight attacks, but Batman had blocked every single one using various means.

Batman didn't just block the offensive; he even had enough spare capacity to curl his index finger and rap his knuckles heavily against Venom Robin's forehead—seven or eight times in a row.

Clearly, even though Venom Robin's raw strength exceeded fifty tons, the gap in skill was still too vast, making Venom Robin seem like nothing more than a toy in Batman's hands.

"Robin, you haven't utilized your full potential at all." Batman looked down at Venom Robin, who was sitting on the ground clutching his skull. "But before we resume training, there are some questions I need to confirm."

Venom Robin looked up. "What questions?"

"The screech you emitted when you first attacked—I need you to do it again." Batman pointed to a tree not far away. "At that."

Venom Robin didn't understand Batman's intent, but he obediently complied, opening his mouth toward the tree Batman had indicated.

"SCREECH!"

After howling, Venom Robin turned to look at Batman, only to find him rubbing his chin, lost in thought.

"Old Bat, is there a problem?" Venom Robin asked.

Batman shook his head slightly. He had been wondering why Venom, who feared high-frequency noise, could actively emit a screech as an attack method.

Through Venom Robin's demonstration, Batman now understood.

From the very beginning as a pure symbiote, Venom Robin's way of speaking involved air passing through the mouth, simulating the vibrations of human vocal cords.

The screech was the same. By compressing air, the symbiote in Venom Robin's throat and mouth acted like a gun barrel, projecting most of the energy forward in a conical zone. This drastically reduced the sonic energy recoiling backward and affecting his own body.

Although Venom Robin's combat methods were still lacking in Batman's eyes, this little bit of ingenuity showed that Venom Robin wasn't stupid; rather, he was capable of flexibly utilizing his own characteristics.

For three days straight, aside from taking Venom Robin to South Brother Island to observe and learn from the four scientists' experiments, Batman spent almost all the remaining time on North Brother Island putting him through rigorous training.

Batman had extensive experience training Robins. In just three short days, Venom Robin could already easily defeat the version of himself from three days ago using the tactics he had mastered.

But when he confidently challenged Batman, the fate of having his skull heavily rapped by Batman's knuckles remained unchanged.

Aside from tactical and skill training, Batman spent the remaining portion of their time taking Venom Robin to Oscorp Tower.

Norman Osborn and Harry Osborn, father and son, were locked together in the second basement level of the Batcave, still in hibernation.

Before they returned to normal and could retake control of the Osborn Group, Batman chose to temporarily manage the corporation.

However, to avoid further misunderstandings once the Osborns woke up, Batman made almost no decisions regarding the Osborn Group, only ensuring the corporation itself operated normally.

Fortunately, while Batman was in New Mexico, the accident on the 20th floor of the Osborn Group remained unknown to the public, aside from Tony Stark, the sole witness.

On the surface, it was just an inexplicable power outage, causing no fluctuations for Oscorp Tower.

With Batman's interference, even the replacement of the broken glass on the twentieth floor went unnoticed by anyone.

"Since you don't plan to interfere with the Osborn Group, what's the point of bringing me here?" Venom Robin, who had quietly climbed up the outer wall into the top-floor office, asked Batman with his hands on his hips.

Batman explained patiently:

"You don't need to specifically study business management, but our enemies might be individuals with wealth rivaling nations. Understanding the basic operations of a corporation will similarly become a means for you to overcome enemies one day."

Venom Robin possessed some of Batman's memories, but essentially, he was not Batman.

Just as a student cannot apply one hundred percent of what is taught in books, Venom Robin could not always understand Batman one hundred percent.

"Like the Dark Wind Group?"

Venom Robin scratched his head. He still didn't quite understand why Batman, having the ability, didn't just handle the matter directly.

"I probably can't do it, but Dad, shouldn't you be able to fly straight to Japan and wipe out that whatever Dark Wind Group in one go?"

Batman remained patient. It was better for Venom Robin to ask questions directly than to bottle them up and speculate, potentially leading him down the wrong path.

"Robin, do you remember our purpose in investigating the Dark Wind Group?"

Upon hearing this, Venom Robin reacted immediately.

He was wearing a human face mask specially made by Batman again. A look of realization appeared on his face.

"I remember it had to do with the theft of that stone tablet?"

"Correct." Batman nodded. "There are two clues in this case: one is the era symbolized by the stone tablet itself, and the other is the Dark Wind Group."

"Neither clue allows us to directly trace the employer behind it..." Robin murmured. "So you aren't going directly to Japan..."

Batman signaled Venom Robin to continue with an encouraging look.

Receiving Batman's encouragement, Venom Robin boldly offered a deduction:

"First, the Dark Wind Group can't provide the complete clue. Second, that stone tablet in the Metropolitan Museum... I get it. You put the stone tablet back in its original place to use it as bait, to see if anyone tries to steal it again?"

"Correct," Batman was about to state his third objective, but an alarm cut him short.

The alarm didn't come from Oscorp Tower, but from the Batcave at the City Hall subway station, not far from the Parker Building.

Venom's shroud suit had also received a series of equipment upgrades from Batman, so he received the alarm as well.

Father and son looked at each other and spoke in unison:

"Osborn has woken up."

Wyoming, The Cube Prison.

Large amounts of hypnotic, hallucinogenic gas were released from every corner, the concentration so high it plunged the entire prison into a vast expanse of white mist.

Under the effects of the heavy dose of hypnotic gas, the inmates in the cages of the Cube fainted one after another.

Thud!

Hawkeye, Clint Barton, was almost the first prisoner in the entire facility to pass out, his eyes rolling back as he collapsed in his cell and lost consciousness.

Almost at the same moment he fell, Agent 19, "Mockingbird" Barbara Morse, wearing a black and white tight-fitting combat suit and a gas mask of a higher grade than military issue, stormed in with a gun.

Behind her, over a dozen fully armed Cube prison guards carrying firearms filed in, quickly occupying every corner of Hawkeye's cell and pointing their muzzles in unison at the unconscious Hawkeye on the floor, who was utterly unable to resist.
