Chapter 10 - Level 5, Bronze Rank

Maxwell now had a full stomach. He only ate about half of the hind leg of the boar while Constantine consumed the remaining raw. Constantine ate like a cannibal, consuming the meat raw. He savoured the taste from every bite as blood dripped down his jaw. Maxwell watched with tension as Constantine ate; occasionally, he would have goosebumps involuntarily.

Soon they were done...

After resting for a while, Maxwell took out 3 of the Improvement elements, handing them out of Constantine. "Here! Take care of these for me.

Constantine was shocked, and then he rejected the Improvement elements from Maxwell. "But Sir... You should keep them for yourself. It'll just be a waste of me since I cannot cultivate."

After training for over a decade, he was still at level 10, bronze rank. He had never made any improvements, no matter how hard he tried, so Constantine had already given up the idea of cultivating.

"Hold onto them for me, will you?. There's no need for you to try to argue here with me." Maxwell said.

Maxwell hadn't figured out why Constantine could not level up. Some things required a bit of luck and he guessed cultivation was one.

"To me, these elements are just useless so I'll just keep them safe for you." Constantine thought to himself as he carefully kept the Improvement elements.

Maxwell was the first person who came to mind whenever Constantine gained something good. This has always been his routine since he was young.

After staying with him the longest, Maxwell knew naturally what he had in mind. "Now, take one of the Improvement elements and consume for me."

Constantine was defeated as he brought out one of the Improvement elements before saying. "But Sir... I should just save them for you since I have no use for them myself."

Maxwell didn't let him finish as he squeezed his face, pretending to be angry. "Are you saying no to me?"

"No, of course not."

"Then do as I say now, will you?"

"I'll do just that."

Constantine was more than a butler to Maxwell. He was a brother and a brother he would always stand with forever.

Improvement elements were very useful to cultivators as they acted as a relaxant for the muscles and helped with blood circulation. It also helped in strength improvement for a cultivator's body and Constantine was now consuming one.

Having no other options, Constantine opened the Improvement elements, which looked like an orb, as he began to absorb them.

Maxwell wore a satisfied look. "We'll be going back into the forest to kill wild spawned beasts."

"Okay!" Constantine agreed with a nod, even if he didn't know the reason for killing the Beasts that would spawn, he just agreed to join Maxwell.

About half an hour later they both disappeared into the forest.

"Grrr..."

Over 5 wild spawned beasts were all over the place. Their size was over that of humans, with over two meters in length. A pack of hyenas and other beasts were all there for the same purpose. To consume the corpse of Sean and the others.

"Just as I anticipated."

Wild Spawned Beasts were everywhere in Enod. All they needed was an attraction and the scents of fresh blood acted as the catalyst to draw their attention.

Maxwell didn't bother to bury the corpses of Sean and the others for this purpose.

The more the wild spawned beasts gnawed on the corpses, the better it was for Maxwell. If members of the Gillette Household were to investigate the matter, he would not be a suspect.

"Constantine, block the exit and don't let anyone escape," Maxwell commanded.

Constantine grinned from ear to ear as he flexed his knuckles. He stood like a giant, blocking the path to exit.

With a swift leap, Maxwell landed in the midst of the wild spawned beasts, wearing a devilish smile. "Time to add up my XP "

Humans were very rare in this part and to the Spawned beast, a human alive was better compared to a dead corpse. Suddenly...

A pack of hyenas were the first to attack. One at a time, they jumped at Maxwell their teeth drooling with a devilish smile. Their eyes glowed green with only one intention: to make Maxwell their lunch.

Maxwell stepped forward with confidence as he raised his palm to call on them after taking an attack position. "Come at me!"

With quickness, Maxwell sent out five heavy blows which landed on his victims swiftly.

"Bam! Bam!! Bam!!!"

Fresh blood gushed out from the heads of the hyenas as they shattered on the ground. Their bodies twitched uncontrollably before becoming stiff.

"Crackle!"

"Congratulations, Player Maxwell Gillette, for killing Hyena. Reward: 20 XP, 1: Mana."

"Congratulations Player Maxwell Gillette..."

The notification sound continued until all five rewards were collected.

"In less than a minute I've gained a hundred XP. I don't think making an additional 10000 XP to level up would be hard. A few days here and I should be able to level up." Maxwell mumbled to himself with joy.

Levelling Up to Level 5, Bronze Rank in just a few days. This was definitely a crazy move that was only possible for Maxwell. It would normally take a year or two for someone to level up from Level 4, bronze rank to Level 5, bronze rank. Even the acting heir, Sir Gregory, had spent almost a year levelling up after the assistance of many improvement elements.

Cultivation was the only way to level up in this world but for Maxwell, all he had to do was make a kill to gain XP and level up.

The next on his list was a Cobra that had been monitoring him.

"Dragon Beast Palm!"

The combined technique from both arms burst forth with two simple punches, the first sent the cobra flying while the second sent it crashing down hard on the ground.

"Bam!"

The cobra was already dead before it could attack.

"Crackle!"

"Congratulations, Player Maxwell Gillette, for killing Cobra. Reward..."

The notification sound went off.

The other spawned beasts began to retreat after witnessing the havoc Maxwell could deliver. But Constantine stood unshakably as he charged at them causing them to stay.

"Good! Constantine." Maxwell praised Constantine.

Maxwell was now in a frenzy as he began to attack the beasts. His martial technique was key to his victory as he utilised it; with a few minutes, all that was left standing were Maxwell and Constantine. All the spawned beasts were now dead.

"Let's move out," Maxwell said, beckoning to Constantine.

Constantine had the look of hunger on his face after seeing the corpses of the dead beasts lying around as he began to salivate.

"With all this weight on you already, would you die if you didn't eat this much?"

"Why should we waste them if we could eat them?" Constantine asked with a silly look.

Arguing with him was futile. "I'll be going up ahead, do, what you must do quickly," Maxwell said before leaving.

It was a wonder to Maxwell why Constantine acted like a beast whenever he saw blood from raw meat. Well...

Constantine ate with pleasure from the still-warm beasts' corpses. He didn't understand why but he just obeyed his body.

The first day went by in a flash with Maxwell making over a hundred kills. This was over 20% of the XP he needed. Constantine continuously does the cleanup by eating the corpses. His stomach now looked like a match ball.

By the third day, both of them were already deep into the forest and Maxwell's XP had skyrocketed. His dragon beast palm martial technique had also levelled up with Constantine actively absorbing the life force of the beasts.

By the fifth day, wild spawned beasts were now difficult to spot around. As long as Maxwell could gain XP, he didn't spare anything, down to insects, none was at his mercy.

The stench of blood filled the entire forest.

"Bam!"

An insect that was crawling on the back of a tree was smashed into nothing.

"Crackle!

"Congratulations, Player Maxwell Gillette, for killing an Insect. Reward: 1 XP, 0: Mana."

"Crackle!"

"Congratulations, Player Maxwell Gillette, on Levelling Up."

"Level 5, Bronze Rank."

"Reward: Divine Technique: Overdrive. Unlocked."
