Inside the box sat the biggest diamond ring Orion had ever seen in his life. Bigger than anything on TV, bigger than anything in a museum, bigger than anything that should ever exist on a normal human finger. It glinted, sparkled, and practically screamed obscenely expensive.
Orion's eyes widened so much he felt they might pop out of his skull. His mouth parted but no sound came out. Every nerve in his body froze.
Shock. Disbelief. Horror. Confusion. All of it hit him at once, flooding his chest with a pressure so strong he almost forgot how to breathe.
Edwards let out a strangled gasp behind him. The servants....every single one of them stared at the ring like it was a mythical artifact. Like it wasn't real. Like they were all witnessing the kind of thing presidents, royalty, and world leaders would never dare attempt.
