At eleven o'clock that night, three furtive figures left Hogwarts Castle and headed towards the dark Forbidden Forest in the distance.
A bright full moon hung in the night sky, and by its light, Kyle could see Hagrid's hut not far away.
"Is that you, George and Fred?" a voice called from afar.
Hagrid strode towards them from the darkness, carrying a huge stone bow and a full quiver of quivers on his back, followed by a lithe hound.
"Kyle, what are you doing here?" Hagrid frowned when he saw Kyle. "The Forbidden Forest is very dangerous at night, go back!"
"It was actually the three of us who were caught by Professor McGonagall this afternoon, but Professor McGonagall didn't punish me." Kyle shrugged.
Hagrid paused for a moment. "Alright then, listen carefully. The Forbidden Forest at night is very dangerous for you young wizards, and I don't want any of you to be in danger."
He led them to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, held up his lantern high, and pointed to a narrow path that gradually disappeared into the dark depths of the forest.
They looked into the Forbidden Forest, a gentle breeze ruffling their hair.
"What we're going to do is patrol the Forbidden Forest. Generally speaking, as long as the three of you stick close to me and Toothpick, you'll be fine."
Hagrid patted Toothpick's head, signaling it to lead the way. "Stay alert. Okay, let's go now."
The Forbidden Forest was pitch black and silent.
Toothpick and Hagrid walked at the head of the group, one after the other, with the three young wizards following closely behind.
George and Fred held their wands, the tips glowing with a fluorescent charm, flanking Kyle on either side.
Kyle was touched and amused by their actions. He patted their arms, "Guys, you really didn't have to do this."
Before coming to Hogwarts, Kyle was the Dark Knight of New York, a deadly guardian of the night.
The darkness provided perfect cover, so most crimes occurred at night, and Kyle could only operate during that time.
Therefore, Kyle had honed his skills in fighting in the dark.
If the three of them were to fight in the Forbidden Forest, Kyle wouldn't even need ninjutsu; with close combat and extremely stealthy movement, taking down George and Fred would be no problem.
George and Fred grinned at Kyle's words.
"What are you thinking? We're not acting as your bodyguards."
"We're just walking on either side to provide light because you don't know the Flurry Charm."
Is that so? They're being treated like magic noobs.
Kyle thought for a moment and pulled his wand from his sleeve.
Having practiced ninjutsu hand seals for five years, he still wasn't quite used to using a wand.
"Fluorescence," Kyle murmured.
With Kyle deliberately increasing the magical input, a ball of light the size of a head floated from the tip of his wand, illuminating the pitch-black Forbidden Forest as if it were daytime.
No, even daytime wasn't as bright; the trees in the Forbidden Forest were so dense that sunlight rarely reached there directly.
George, Fred, and Hagrid: ???
"How did you do that?"
"Even advanced Luminescence spells don't have this brightness!"
Hagrid nodded in complete agreement. He'd been in the wizarding world for so many years and had never seen anyone's Luminescence spell resemble a small sun.
Of course, he was sure that if Professor Dumbledore wanted to, it would be a piece of cake.
Kyle flicked his wand upwards, and the ball of light floated upwards with his movement, hanging above their heads like a sun. "Isn't it simple? Just increase the magical input."
George, Fred, and Hagrid: ...
Increase the magical input, that sounds simple enough.
But the two brothers had absolutely no idea what to do.
Hagrid had never heard of such a technique either.
George and Fred gripped their wands with all their might, their faces flushed red, like chronically constipated patients desperately trying to empty their long-blocked intestines… "What are you doing?" Kyle asked curiously.
"Increasing the magic input," George answered honestly.
Kyle coughed lightly, trying not to laugh out loud. "Increasing magic input isn't done like that at all."
Fred, realizing his fluorescent charm was even worse than Kyle's before he enrolled, felt a little embarrassed. "Then what should we do?"
Kyle opened his mouth, but found he couldn't give a coherent answer.
Was controlling the magic within his body really that difficult? Was it really that difficult?
"Just do this first, then that," Kyle pointed to the small sun above his head, "and then it floats out."
Feeling like they'd been fooled, the two grabbed Kyle's neck from either side, seemingly determined to strangle him if he tried to fool them again.
"Stop, stop, stop! I'll teach you two magic control techniques when we get back!"
Kyle started making plans in his mind.
Climbing trees and wading through water weren't particularly advanced skills, but if they could be used to build relationships, they were worthwhile.
Kyle hadn't forgotten his identity as the son of the Demon King.
Even without ambitions to dominate the magical world, building connections is still quite necessary.
Hagrid glanced at the three young wizards playfully fighting and couldn't help but cough to remind them, "The patrol isn't finished yet."
Hearing Hagrid's words, the three stopped playing around.
The two brothers, having extorted magic control techniques from Kyle, winked at each other with satisfaction.
But just then, a sudden wolf howl shattered the tranquility of the Forbidden Forest.
Upon hearing the howl, Hagrid's expression changed drastically.
"Go! Let's go back quickly!" Hagrid shouted, "Kyle, turn off your glow charm!"
Kyle, sensing the urgency in Hagrid's voice, did as he was told.
The four of them and their dog quickly retraced their steps.
Toothpick ran incredibly fast, soon disappearing from their sight.
"Hagrid, was it a werewolf?" George asked.
"Yes, it was a werewolf calling for its companions. Damn it! It's a full moon tonight!"
Hearing Hagrid's answer, George and Fred's teeth chattered, and their legs moved even more rapidly.
Another, even more piercing wolf howl rang out, and judging from its volume, the source seemed closer.
"They're catching up!" Hagrid stopped. "We can't outrun them!"
Leading the three behind a towering oak tree, Hagrid took the stone bow from his back, drew an arrow, and prepared to fire.
Kyle glanced at the tree beside him, and with a few leaps, climbed to the top, more than ten meters high.
George and Fred were nearly speechless at Kyle's feat.
Crouching in the tree, Kyle pulled out a pair of insulated gloves from his pocket, put them on, and held his breath, quietly waiting for the werewolf's arrival.
The four listened intently, and soon, a strange black shadow appeared in their sight.
Two points of green light, like will-o'-the-wisps floating in the air, were the first to catch their attention.
A bizarre creature, its body shrouded in thick fur, stood on two legs. Its pair of erect, triangular ears twitched intermittently in the cold wind, keenly sensing every faint sound coming from its surroundings.
That was a werewolf.
