The sky was a brilliant blue, with just a few wispy clouds scattered across the horizon. The sun shone brightly, casting a warm glow over the landscape. A gentle breeze carried the sweet scent of blooming flowers through the air, and the temperature was just right – not too hot, not too cold.
The world felt alive, with birds singing their sweet melodies and leaves rustling softly in the trees. It was a day that felt full of possibility and promise, a day when anything seemed achievable. But that could not change how I felt.
My piercing green eyes gazed blankly at the canopy above my bed, my mind replaying the events of the previous night, all faded into the background as I relived the moment that had left me sleepless.
The soft pink night dress seemed an incongruous garb for the turmoil brewing within me.
As I laid there, my thoughts swirled around Christopher. What had he meant by his words? And why did I feel an inexplicable sense of connection to him?
My red hair cascaded down my pillow like a fiery halo, my face a mask of contemplation. I was accustomed to being in control, to having all the answers. But last night, something had shifted. For the first time in a long while, I felt uncertain, and it was this uncertainty that kept me awake.
"My Queen you don't look too good," Maddy said " Did you get any sleep last night?"
How could I get any sleep when everytime I closed my eyes all I saw was Christopher. How his face was inches from mine, how he whispered in my ears making me shiver, how he grabbed my waist so tightly closing any distance between us and how he stared at me, with his attractive blue eyes. Why was I thinking about him?
Sigh
"Are you okay my Queen?" she asked concerned.
"I'm okay Maddy," I forced a smile," Have you seen the King today?"
"Yes, he is at his study room."
Maybe this was my chance to get things straight with him. I couldn't avoid him since we were both at the palace. And yesterday he was just trying to scare me for disobeying him. I should not think too much of it.
After I was done, I walked down the hallway reaching the study room's door. As I was about to open the door I heard him speak
"They want her."
Her? Who? Who was he talking about?
"What do you think the King will say when he finds out the Queen is eavesdropping?"
