Chapter 19 - Vladimir's Lightning

Ranked items were extremely pricey as even a mediocre FFF rank item could cost around 50 coins which was equivalent to 5000 dollars.

"Hmm…. let's see… you guys need anything? I should be able to buy us some stuff as long as it isn't too pricey." Amon said, ready to spend all his coins so he could boost his team's success rate.

Nyx who seemed to have recovered from the state of drowning in intense emotions, picked up her bags and looked at the two guys.

"I suggest pooling our money to buy something slightly better. It's always better to have one person with higher ranked items compared to having three people with low ranked garbage." she said and pointed at herself, "And logically, the best person to use the item should be me since I'm an E plus rank."

Amon thought for a second and nodded. In this post apocalyptic world that seemed to have been integrated with game-like settings, exp sharing was an existing concept.

"Hmm… alright just give us enough time to contribute something before you take the kill." he said as he glanced at Mike who was one rank higher, "Also, how much do the both of you have right now?"

"Last night we didn't make much so I only have three hundred coins and some change." Nyx didn't hide anything as she put everything on the table, "I'll need atleast 500 coins by the end of the week though. There's still four more days."

Mike on the other hand, sighed, "The blood hound carcasses and cores are still in the market. They'll be sold in a few days but for now…. I only have eighty coins."

"I see…" Amon muttered and nodded, "Bring them all out here. I wanna test something and if it succeeds, maybe we'll be able to sell everything in just a few minutes."

Without any hesitation, Mike brought out six bodies along with the cores.

As soon as he touched one of the cores, he got a message.

[Would you like to dissolve the core into Stream points?]

'Not yet..' he thought as he grabbed one of the bodies but unfortunately, got no messages.

'Only the cores can be converted but not the bodies, huh? Well, we can use these as food so it's not that bad. Monster meat provides much more energy and regeneration compared to regular food.'

With his thoughts sorted, he looked at Mike, "How much for the cores and bodies? The current market price."

"A body with a core goes for seventy. So for six, I should be able to make 420 coins but it'll take some time. There's also the problem of fluctuating prices." Mike complained, only to look at Amon in shock the moment he received a system message.

Amon shrugged, "Just accept it. I'll sell these instead of you and maybe I'll get a better offer."

"But five hundred is a bit…"

"Shut up and take it. Back when we worked under the professor, your job was just to stall for time until the other teams got to us. Now, there are no other teams so I'll need you to do some damage. Your stats are focused on agility so your damage isn't great. The only way of making up for this, is to get a good weapon." Amon lectured him as he converted all the blood hound cores into stream points.

Each core gave him 100 stream points, bringing them up to 1143. His frisky little session with Nyx had netted him more than 300 stream points, most of them coming from Cultured Grandpa.

Amon looked at his system shop and chuckled as his gaze landed on the FFF rank health potion. Beside it was mana potion of the same rank and both of them cost just 1 stream point.

The price difference alone was crazy when compared to the market since FFF ranked potions cost 20 coins there. A blood hound corpse and core sold for 70 coins in the market while the core could be converted into 100 stream points.

This meant that if Amon wished, he could flood the market with Health and Mana potions to get rich. 100 Stream points could be converted to 2,000 coins!

Amon immediately scrapped the idea as he knew that there were multiple mafias that controlled the prices in the market. People could sell potions in low quantities but if the number exceeded certain threshold, then one could come under the sights of the Mafias.

This was because the names were out in the public for everyone to see. There were also various means of tracking people by relying on the system's market.

He had lost his sense of shame, embarrassment and various other things but he still had his same old reasoning.

30 Health potions were bought and put up in the Market before Amon sent 1000 coins to Nyx.

"You don't-"

"You're the main damage dealer." he countered back and then winked, "And who's gonna spoil my girl if not me?"

Nyx just sighed as she felt uneasy instead of getting flustered. Being gifted things like skirts and clothing was within her acceptable range but 1000 coins were just too much.

'… is he testing me?' she wondered as she stared intently at him, but Amon was busy looking through his screen while he hummed.

'Hmm 765 coins left along with 1113 stream points… ah, 1365 coins. Damn, it got sold quick.' he mused happily as he scrolled through weapons, armors and accessories.

A few minutes later, a pair of gloves appeared in his hands.

[Vladimir's Lightning - D]

Durability: 15

Effects: +15% Lightning Damage

Skill: Shock Touch

[Shock Touch: Pass electricity into the bodies of those that come in contact with the gloves. Damage is dependent on mana used and magic stats.]

'To think that finding a decent item would be so hard… also, this damn thing cost 1250 coins for heaven's sake. Fucking 15 durability… well, beggars can't be choosers.' he complained inwardly as he moved to his unique system shop which was still at F rank.
