HARPER
We stayed in the hospital for another hour, then decided to leave for home. Mila wasn't getting discharged, and she had been moved to the pediatric observation room. I trust she was in good hands. Doctor Daniel had been Dominic's Doctor for years, and he trusted him too.
The drive home was a blur. None of us spoke to each other. There was nothing particularly to say, especially with Mila's situation. I had questions. But I didn't think it was the time to start asking Dominic.
I pushed open the front door, took a step, and stopped at the threshold. My heart leapt into my throat as I saw Jason on the floor. He had left the hospital before us.
Jason was sprawled in an awkward angle. His legs were thrown farther from the other, and arms done in the same manner, and…he wasn't breathing?
Oh god. Are we having another casualty?
