How could she put me on the spot like that?

Of course, I'd known Felicity for years—close to two decades now. She was one of those women who floated between wealthy, powerful men. Not to blend into their world or build anything of her own, but to extort them.

She never changed. Not even when she had Harper—or when I thought she did. I actually believed motherhood might force some humanity into her, but it only made her worse.

Now, she'd dropped a bomb and walked away like it meant nothing.

I had no fucking clue what she was talking about.

All day, I'd been running through every man I'd ever seen her with. Some women, too. If she wasn't Harper's biological mother, then who the hell was? No face came to mind. No memory stuck.

Yet she expected me to know, just like that. And worse, she expected me to tell Harper. I scoffed and leaned back into my chair.

Across the room, Richard sat silently, focused on the tablet in his hand.
