Chapter 165 - my wife is missing

I gazed at Mrs. Smith for the longest time, barely believing what I'd just heard. Shifting from one foot to the other, I frowned, questioning her.

"What do you mean she left?" I asked. "I left her in this house. There are three fucking guards outside who are supposed to be watching her! How could she have left? Do you even understand what you're telling me?"

Mrs. Smith had her hands behind her back, clearly nervous. She was avoiding my gaze, too. I didn't mean to yell at her, but hell—Harper made me do unthinkable things. And now she was gone. Where the hell had she gone?

"I couldn't stop her, Mr. Fletcher," Mrs. Smith finally said. "I wanted to, but she had that look in her eyes… that kind of sadness only someone who's been through what she has would understand."

I snorted. "She's not the first woman to go through something like this, and definitely not the last."
