"You're scared of it?" I asked, eyes wide as I stared at Dominic, whose face had turned a shade paler than usual. His gaze was fixed on the Ferris wheel like it was some towering beast sent to torment him.
He stood frozen beside the park bench, fingers gripping the edge like it anchored him to safety.
"No," he scoffed, though the lack of conviction in his voice betrayed him.
"Then why are you still standing there?" I raised a brow, folding my arms.
"Because I can," he shot back with a forced smirk.
"Smartass," I muttered, rolling my eyes. Before I could press further, I felt a tug on my dress.
"Come on!" Mila urged, her voice eager, her eyes wide with anticipation. "Everyone's already going!"
I glanced between her and Dominic, then crouched slightly to meet her eyes. "Can you go wait with Mr. Brown? I need to talk to your dad real quick." I nodded toward the ice cream kiosk where Richard stood.
