Chapter 169 - Stomach bug

With screams echoing around us and everyone caught up in the thrill, Dominic sat frozen.

His face had gone pale, eyes wide and unfocused. He looked almost…lifeless. Only the rise and fall of his chest assured me he was still breathing. For the past five minutes, he hadn't spoken a word or even shifted in his seat.

I reached for his hand and gripped it tightly.

"Dominic?" I called over the howling wind. I threaded my fingers through his and lifted his hand. "Say something!"

He didn't respond. Just kept staring blankly into space.

My stomach clenched with worry.

Then suddenly, he gasped, and his body jerked violently. He hunched forward just as the sound hit me.

Without thinking, I grabbed the paper bag I'd stuffed into my jacket—just in case one of us needed it—and shoved it under his mouth. He threw up immediately, his whole body convulsing while I rubbed his back in slow, steady circles.
