Chapter 140 - [140] And There Were Four

After drinking her blood and starting the process, Kyle positioned himself in front of Akiko, watching as her transformation began.

"Ahhhh!"

A scream tore through Akiko's throat the moment the spasms began.

She doubled over, hands clasped around herself as pain surged through her body.

All vampires undergoing transformation felt this pain, but when it came to Akiko, it would probably be several times worse.

The reason for this was that she was unwell. Most of her organs were already far gone, her muscles, bones… everything was sub par.

It was far too inferior, compared to what a vampire should have had.

While she was unconscious, Kyle had scanned her using geolocation, which strangely worked on humans as well.

If Akiko had been left without treatment, she wouldn't have lasted past the week.

Bang!

Kyle held her in place to prevent her from injuring herself as she suddenly swung her arm in the air, her fist slamming into his gut.

He could already feel the vampiric strength seeping in slowly…

Because Akiko's body was so much weaker than a regular human's, the transformation was going to take a little longer to fix all the errors.

After some time of excruciating pain, Akiko finally relaxed.

She was sitting, sprawled out on the floor while breathing heavily.

Her curly, dark blue hair was now messy and her green eyes were weary as she stared in one direction.

'Now it's time for part two…'

Right now, Akiko was probably more than confused. Her body felt different, she could hear sounds she normally could not, but the worse part was the hunger.

A void that seemed to eat her from within, a thirst that was so maddening that it drove her to her feet.

"W-what is happening to me…" she parted her lips to speak, her breaths steamy and her fangs sticking out.

Right before Kyle's eyes, the green cracks that had plagued her features began to fade, her skin returning to a beautiful jade-like colour.

The bags underneath her eyes disappeared, and Akiko was looking more healthy overall, prettier even.

But it was not complete.

She needed blood, and lots of it to finish her transformation. But first, Kyle walked up to her cautiously, to hand her a bottle of water.

With each step he took closer to her, Akiko's eyes followed him like a feral beast seeing a human for the first time, her true vampiric nature seeping out.

Right now, Akiko did not see Kyle. Her body needed blood so much that it had grown maddening.

And Kyle?

He was a five course meal brought right to her doorstep.

"Akiko, can you understand me? You need to drink this before having any blood, understand?"

"O-of course, I read you loud and clear." She smiled wryly.

Kyle could tell it was taking every ounce of her self control to keep herself in check.

He nodded. "Alright, here I come…"

The moment he brought his hand close to her—

Whoosh!

Akiko latched onto him, her mouth wide open as she brought her teeth towards his arm.

But before she could touch him, shadow strings suddenly wrapped themselves around her, restricting her in place.

Akiko glared at Solvane, snapping her teeth in Kyle' s direction.

"Like I said, never trust a hungry vampire…" Kyle sighed, glancing at Himiko as he put the water in her mouth, forcing her to drink.

Himiko pouted and looked away.

After the 'Himiko' incident, Kyle knew not to trust anything a blood driven vampire would say.

When Akiko had drunk enough water, he signaled Solvane to let go, allowing Akiko to pounce on him, hungrily feasting on his blood.

Akiko drank like she had four stomachs….

"How long is she going to keep drinking? I still need Kyle later…" Himiko looked a little jealous as she watched them.

Solvane shrugged. "She probably needs a lot of blood because her body needs energy to heal, but I hope she doesn't drain him dry."

Sakura nodded. "True…"

Both girls agreed with themselves, Kyle was basically their shared fountain.

"Anyways… I'm done right? Can I go back to bed?" Solvane murmured.

Sakura glanced at her and shook her head. "Didn't you say you were nocturnal? Why are you still sleepy by this time?"

Solvane sighed deeply and stared at the couch longingly, before turning back to Kyle and Akiko.

It took nearly five minutes before Akiko finally let go of him and stumbled back.

But the effects were as clear as day. Her skin looked far healthier, her hair had a light sheen, and her green eyes were sparkling like emeralds.

Akiko raised her hands to her face, and looked at them, as though she was seeing them for the first time.

She took a step back and forth and then turned around, her eyes wide before she burst out in tears.

Now that her mind was finally clear, she was seeing the effects of the change.

"I… feel like a-a new p-person…" she said in between sobs.

Sakura hurried up to her and embraced her friend in a tight hug, a bright smile on her face as she cried on her shoulders.

Kyle just watched from the sidelines, a small smile on his face.

'Thank God it worked…' he thought to himself.

When Akiko had finally settled down, Kyle walked up to her and asked, "So how do you feel?"

Akiko smiled politely. "I feel good. My body, and even my quirk feels more powerful."

"Do you want to test your quirk? That is the only way we can know if your regeneration can cover for it." Kyle stated.

After drinking blood for the first time, vampires gained the ability to regenerate, but that regeneration had its limits.

'If it doesn't work, then I can always bestow her with the regeneration quirk I got from the nomu.'

He also had another talent upgrade card he had gotten from turning her. If the regeneration quirk wasn't strong enough, then all he had to do was upgrade it.

His plan was fool-proof.

Akiko looked hesitant about using her quirk, but Sakura encouraged her, and she agreed to test it out.

"Alright, can I test it out on you?" She asked.

"Sure, give it a go."

Akiko took in a deep breath, her eyes began to give off a green shine, and swirly green patterns appeared on her forehead, as she fixed her gaze on him.

It was not the cracks he was used to seeing, these patterns actually looked beautiful, like tattoos painted in green ink.

Once her quirk, Catalysis, activated, Kyle waited to see the results, but there was nothing.

He was exactly the same as he had been a few seconds ago.

'Maybe it isn't working on my vampire abilities?'

He raised his hand. 'How about if I try my other quirks…?'
