"Well that's too bad." Jeffery said. "Because I performed his funeral rights."
"You've done everything. You've taken it all from me." I said, my voice small and now heartbroken. "You didn't even let me say goodbye."
"There was no point." He stated coldly.
I gritted my teeth in anger.
He could have taken me out in chains just so I could witness my father's burial.
But he had chosen not to.
He had simply chosen to deny me the chance of ever saying goodbye to my father.
I thought of the last time I had seen my dad and my heart twisted.
My entire body trembled and the pain was unbearable.
I felt the tears well up inside my eyes but I told myself that I wasn't going to cry.
I was not going to let him see me cry.
Crying would give him the satisfaction he so badly wanted.
"What about Sadie?" I asked.
"She attended." He said and I felt wave of relieve wash over me. "She is fine. For now."
I looked at him sharply.
What did he mean for now.
I glared at him.
"I have an offer for you Gabrielle." He informed.
There was something dark and disturbing in his eyes.
The exact same way they had been when he had taken over.
"Because you're now useless." He said as he began to pace the prison. "Gabrielle you were destined for greatness in the pack. But you simply had to be a stupid bitch didn't you? You had to just ruin my plans."
He cleared his throat. "You were supposed to shift and be the savior we all wanted. Finally break the curse, marry Devan and we would live happily. But you had to be a disgusting crippled dog."
I felt cold and hurt as he hurled those words at me.
"Because of you Alpha Raphael has taken up seventy percent of the pack and I need to make up for my lost asset." He explained. "You can't break the curse anymore, but you can provide someone else."
I had no idea where he was getting at.
"What are you trying to tell me?" I asked.
Then he pulled out a card from his suit jacket and flung it at me through the prison bars.
As I slowly picked it up from the floor, he began to speak. "I've arranged for your wedding to an Alpha who would breed with you and give us another potential savior."
I picked up the card and to my absolute horror was a wedding card invitation with my name signed on it to an Alpha Octavius of Fort Wort pack.
It was dated today.
"You're getting married tonight." He declared.
