Chapter 6 - THE OFFER

I was hurdled in the corner of the dark musty prison.

It had been four days and i had not seen the light of day.

Ever since I had been betrayed by everyone she trusted, I had been dragged back home and flung into the pack cell.

There was no one who could help me.

Everyone had betrayed me and my sister.

My little sister Sadie.

I had zero idea where she was or how she was coping.

The first day I had spent in the prison, I had screamed and demanded to be released.

But no one would budge.

Eventually I had tried to find a way out, maybe a hole or something.

I had scraped at the walls looking for a means to escape so much my fingers bled.

There was nothing.

By the third day I had given up hope.

My step brother and step mother were now ruling the pack while I was left to die here.

As I sat in the dark corner of the prison, my mind went to my father and how quickly my life has fallen apart in one whole night.

How I had lost everything so quickly.

I thought of how I had heard my Dad make Jeffery promise to give me the pack and how he had still betrayed him.

Betrayed him on his death bed!

As I felt the loneliness creep in, I cried to myself.

A guard came and brought in a plate of meal through the only opening at the bars available.

He saw the other untouched plate.

"You need to eat." He said with a sigh.

I ignored him even though my stomach rumbled violently.

I hadn't eaten in four days.

"Starving isn't going to do you any good." He said.

"I can't eat knowing my entire pack betrayed me!" I shot at him with venom.

And who knew? Maybe they wanted to poison me.

I adjusted my sitting position and felt my dress further rip.

I was still in my ceremonial dress except it was now dirty, torn and smelling.

"No one wants this Gabrielle." The Prison guard said.

"Then if you don't, set me free." I said crawling to the bars and pleading. "You know this is wrong. Please."

I had pleaded time and time again.

He shook his head with an exasperated sigh. "I can't."

I felt the hope in me die and my shoulders dropped weakly.

I kicked the plate of food and went back to my corner.

A few hours later I heard a familiar footstep approach.

I turned around and saw it was none other than Jeffery.

"Hello sister." He said, the same sinister smile he had when my father died, stuck on his ugly face.

It was the first time I had set eyes on him since the night at the hospital.

"Hope you're being treated well." He said.

I looked at him and couldn't help but notice how expensive and confident he looked.

He was really playing well into his role as the new Alpha.

I ignored him and continued facing my wall.

"I thought you would be happy to see me." He said with fake sadness. "Well that's fine. I have news for you."

I ignored him again.

"I've buried my father." He said.

My heart stopped instantly.

"You did what?!" He now had my full attention.

"I said I buried my father." He repeated a smug expression on his face. "It was a nice and befitting burial of the Alpha of this pack. It happened a day after he died."

I felt my heart go heavy.

He had buried my own father.

Without me?

I felt daze and a rush adrenaline hit me.

"You bastard!" I screamed as I lunged at the bars.

"Whoa." He laughed. "I knew you were a crippled wolf, had no idea you were a mad dog too."

"He wasn't even your father! He was mine!" I screamed as I slammed the bars.
