Seven days had crawled by like an eternity. Harriet's demands never ceased, not even when darkness fell. She was the definition of a spoiled princess, requiring constant attention from the moment she opened her eyes until she finally closed them. Sleep brought no relief either, as she would wake me for the most trivial matters.
Initially, she had mentioned werewolf pack trials scheduled for the following day. Later, she casually informed me that the event was delayed by another week. The Mating Ball, she explained with theatrical flair, was merely an introductory gathering rather than an actual selection process.
Werewolves. The concept still boggled my mind. These creatures belonged in fairy tales and horror movies, not in real life. Yet here I was, preparing for an encounter with beings that supposedly shifted from human to wolf.
