"Excellent!" Mom's hands came together in a sharp clap. "We can begin preparations immediately. The Luna trials will commence next week."
"Next week?" The words came out strangled. My eyes went wide with disbelief.
Dad's rich laughter filled the room as he pulled Mom closer against his side. "Your mother had everything arranged before she even approached you about this. We just need to execute the plan now. Every detail has been meticulously prepared." He pressed his lips to her temple, his chest practically radiating with pride.
I watched them walk away together, and something bitter twisted in my gut. That was exactly what I craved. The way they looked at each other, touched each other, existed for each other. Where the hell was my mate? I would wait centuries if I had to.
