"What are you doing Maeve?" Mirabelle asked staring at the screen and gasped when she saw what I typed.
"This is not a joke Maeve, brother Fred does not deserve such treatment." She said but I ignored her completely.
In less than two seconds the internet was on fire, as everyone immediately started talking about me.
I haven't been online for a whole week after the huge scandal, and now I am asking a huge billionaire for a hand in marriage. Clayton Grey was not seen all the time.
He's barely in the news and arguably the richest man in the world. Yet, a nobody like me, had dared to message him, asking for a hand in marriage.
Maybe I had joked too far. But my points had to be proven.
"Is she sick?" People started asking.
"Is she on some kind of drug?"

"Did she think he's Mr Fred Orchard? This is Clayton Grey for crying out loud. 😂😂 A man no eyes have seen."

Maybe they were right. My reputation was ruined for life, why would a man like Fred, want anything to do with me? He had far better things to worry about than a girl who was caught cheating on her wedding night.
The hate messages were so numerous that I couldn't follow up anymore.
"What is she doing?" Genevieve asked from across the table.
"I don't know what has gotten into Maeve Aunt Aurora, please forgive her." Mirabelle walked towards Fred's mother.
"She just messaged Clayton Grey, asking him to marry her publicly." Fred glared at me, veins popping out of his head at Mirabelle's words.
"What have you done Maeve?" Mr Orchard finally spoke for the first time since I arrived here. He's a man with fewer words but one of the most feared figures in the country.
"This fight between you two is not needed. It is something we can settle as a family. Fred has agreed to forgive you Maeve. Why still fight him?" He asked.
"Ha, she just contacted Clayton. You have no idea who he is. He wouldn't even spare you a glance." Matilda laughed so hard.
"Why is that aunty, do you know him?" Mirabelle asked.
"Clayton is the richest man in the world and my stepbrother." Genevieve barked a laugh. "Maeve, you've outdone yourself. Even your delusions are shameless."
"A joke," Matilda added with a cruel smirk. "Nothing more than a desperate woman's cry for attention."
"Let her be aunt, this is the beginning of your downfall. You chose this part for yourself, don't come back begging. Wait till my uncle arrests you for being a fraud." Fred said with confidence.
"I expected better from you Eve. You have disappointed me." Aunt Aurora said.
"Maeve hurry up and delete that post before it's too late. You're the only family I have, I don't want to lose you." Mirabelle cried out
But then, my phone buzzed. A notification popped up. And the room fell silent.
"@Maevedarling," the reply read. "Yes. Meet me in my office tomorrow."
The world thought it was a prank. The internet went into uproar again.
My phone started buzzing from endless calls so did Fred's phone and Mirabelle's.
"H... He just accepted." Mirabelle stuttered, stunned.
"That's impossible." Aunt Genevieve snatched Mirabelle's phone and her eyes went wide.
"What is the meaning of this?" She barked.
"Don't tell me Clayton would dare do this?"
The Orchard family were all stunned, mouths hanging open.
But I smiled, slipping my phone back into my bag as if nothing had happened.
Let them choke on their mockery. Tomorrow, everything changes. My points have finally been made clear.
If Fred thinks he's the only man in this world, then he's wrong.
"Since we're settled now, I should take my leave." I picked my bag and started walking away. On my way out, I dialed a number.
"Becky, I need the CCTV footage of everything that went down the night of my wedding. I need to see who had betrayed me."
