The clip went viral before the night was over.

Screen across the city replayed her image: Amina Yusuf, standing center stage, no microphone, no backing track —just a trembling nineteen-year-old voice that refused to be silenced.

Headlines blared:

"The Unbroken Voice"

"Is Amina the Real future of Music?"

Social media split into chaos. Some praised her bravery:

"She's real. She doesn't need the equipment."

"That's raw talent."

Others mocked her still:

"Diner girl just got lucky."

"It was a pity standing ovation."

At home, Zainab jumped on the bed, squealing with joy. "You were amazing, Sis! Everyone at school saw you!"

Her mother smiled faintly, though the cough in her chest lingered. "Your voice carried all the way to me , Amina "

But not everyone was celebrating.

Vanessa's team rushed to spin the story, posting sleek photos of her rehearsals with captions like:

"Professionalism is the mark of a true star."

The message was clear: Amina's accident was framed as incompetence.

Meanwhile, gossip reporters dug deeper into Amina's background.

One morning, she woke up to see photos of their crumbling apartment splashed across tabloids with headlines:

"The Slum Songbird: Can She Handle Stardom?"

Her chest tightened. Every secret corner of her life was exposed.

When she arrived for rehearsal the next day, heads turned. Some contestants clapped her on the back, others sneered. Vanessa only leaned close and whispered:

"Enjoy your miracle. You won't get another."

Amina bit down her fear.

Later, while packing up, she found another folded slip of paper tucked inside her notebook. Same neat handwriting as before.

"When they chain you, break the lock."

She pressed the note to her chest.

Adrian. It has to be.

For the first time since this nightmare began, she felt not just defiance —but hope..
