By the time we finally reached the villa, the sea stretched out in front of it—completely black under the night sky, but the sound of the waves was clear.

"Wow, sea! I wanna go and swim there!" Nico said, ready to run straight into the water, but I quickly grabbed him and picked him up.

"Don't be so naughty, Nico. At night you can't go into the sea because the fishes are resting right now. You might disturb them, don't you think?"

I said it because I know exactly what works with kids. Sometimes you have to make excuses that feel real from their perspective.

"No, I don't want to disturb the fishes! I'll go into the sea tomorrow morning when they're awake."

I smiled and hugged him tightly. My cute boy. Viktor's subordinates were already unloading things from the bus.

Then I noticed Nilo standing quietly, staring at the sea and listening to the waves like he was lost in them. I went to him silently and touched his shoulder. He glanced back and immediately hugged my legs.
