Chapter 9 - hopeless romantic

"So...what did she want?" Greg asked as soon as vanessa returned from walking clarence to the car.

She rolled her eyes and said "geez greg get a life!" The scowl on her face said she's weary of the whole 'greg sticking his nose too much in her business' scheme. She kept walking without stopping.

"Vanessa i demand answers!" His voice thundered.

"I'm afraid i don't owe you any." She kept on walking.

"It's my baby in your womb so i deserve to know if you made any decision that might affect him!" He yelled after her.

She stopped on her track, turned and walked towards greg. "And what kind of decision do you think i'll probably make that might affect your baby?" She asked in a calm, slow paced tone.

He swallowed hard because of how close she was to him, her proximity made him uncomfortable as he struggled hard to resist the urge of squeezing her in for a kiss. He refused to look down else his eyes would get lost in her alluring beauty, her lush full lips, her sparkly eyes, her cleavages, her breasts that was almost visible through the silk blouse she wore, her visible nipples made it obvious that she wasn't wearing any bra.

He took a step backward to avoid being pulled in by her alluring charm. "I...i just need to know why she was here. Is that too much to ask?" He panted slowly.

"She was here for business and that's all you need to know!" She shot then gagged.

"Vee are you okay?" He asked and touched her shoulders out of worry.

The gagging grew intense. She ran to the kitchen sink on time else the contents in her stomach would've spilled on the floor.

Greg held her hair back while she vomited.

"Have a seat." He guided her to a sofa to sit.

"Thanks." She replied in a weak tone as she sank into the chair.

He got her water. This was the first time vanessa felt nauseous since she conceived, it made her dizzy and her head felt light, she felt her strength level go down.

Daemon made her a light spicy meal.

"You need to eat. You've lost energy and need to refill." He joked.

She couldn't stop herself from laughing, she giggled. He stared at her like he was staring at a strange being.

"What?" She asked after giggling.

"I dunno, i haven't seen a single smile on your face since i got here." He shrugged.

She sighed, a sad countenance came over her like a cloud "there hasn't been any reason to smile since you left." She avoided his gaze because she was close to tear point, she was not going to cry in front of him, he doesn't deserve to.

He placed the food on a table then knelt in front of her.

"What are you doing?" She asked in an alarmed tone while she sat up on the sofa.

"Look. I don't deserve barging into your life like this..."

"Save it! You're doing this for the sake of your heir, nothing more. You don't care about me so don't act like you do. Putting up an act would only make you more pathetic in my sight. I don't need your pity most especially. Cause i know when this is over you'll be out of my life for good." She made her way upstairs after speaking.

Greg watched as she walked upstairs to her room. His heart was filled with pain and darkness after hearing her speak like that.

He sighed then went to the balcony to cry, he cried out of regret of what he did to her, the pain and shame she had to go through. After he left her, she was mocked by paparazzi and some media outlets. She was dragged online by victoria's fans who claimed she lured greg into marrying her to boost her status and pocket.

Prior to their marriage, greg and victoria were the cutest celebrity couple, victoria being an actress made her fan base bigger and strong. They adored idolized her, greg being everyone's crush and favorite, made them the power couple.

They were nicknamed 'gregtoria' by their adoring fans. It broke the hearts of their fans when they learnt that greg dumped victoria and married vanessa.

Vanessa on the other hand was a least liked celebrity, she lived an extremely low key life, she hardly attended awards and galas.

She's won countless awards for her hard work in the business sphere, which she didn't go to claim in person but sent clarence in her stead.

She always moved with lots of guards who shooed away paparazzi from taking photos or videos of her.

Her private life was one of the reasons greg fell in love with her. He loves a woman who was private about what needs to be. Unlike victoria who spends ninety percent of her life on social media.

He looked at the sky above and heaved a heavy sigh and wondered what thinks of him.

Vanessa sat in front of the huge window in her room that over looked the vast garden at the back of the building. The garden that hasn't been trimmed since greg left. The garden was a wedding gift too, it was artificially planted months before their wedding. Greg personally trimmed and cultivated it for her, just the way she liked it.

Since he left, she banned the staff from tending to it, she wished it would overgrow into a bush so she can set it on fire and destroy it forever, cause it stood as a physical representation of what their once beautifully blossomed love look like now.

Greg is the only man she has ever fallen in love with, she was willing to give him her all until he abandoned her for his ex.

He had lied about Victoria when she asked him about his past relationship with her. He told her they were history and she was all he ever loved.

She believed him out of the things she saw him do for her and how he was around her. In the real world, greg was a stern, mean and strict business man respected by all. But with her, he's a hopeless romantic, a softie even.

They played like children, cracked jokes, ran around and did a lot of fun things together.

As memories of the past flooded her mind, a smile escaped from the corner of her mouth, she let out a deep contented smile.
