Chapter 10 - PTSD

The next day was a dull day, the sun was covered by huge thick dark clouds. Before nine in the morning it started to rain, it rained heavily for a while with thunder and lightening.

Greg hates it when it thunders and lightens, it gives him PTSD cause It was on a stormy night he lost his dad. He and his dad was on their way back from the airport when the lightening and thundering started.

A dry brush got lit by the lightening and set the bush by the roadside on fire, the fire was not a problem to the road or its users but while their convoy was passing, a loose timber rolled down and shoved their vehicles into the gorge.

His father died instantly while he was rushed wounded to the nearest hospital. Four people died that night. He was comatose for five weeks.

That night lingered for so long in the mind of greg cause he was twelve years of age when it happened. He watched as his father's vehicle fell deeper into the gorge and went up in flame.

The car he was in got caught by a tree halfway into the gorge. He sustained a lot of injuries from the crash.

To him, every stormy night came back with the same experience and tragedy, he could see his dad's lit up car per each thundering. He imagined how much his father struggled before his sudden painful passing.

The experience causes him to panic. He sweated profusely on the bed. With his hands on his ears, he rolled from one end of the bed to the other, he shut his eyes and panted.

Vanessa knocked on his door countless times without any response. Without thinking, she turned the knob and the door opened, she found greg squirming on the bed. She quickly shut the windows, rolled up the blinds and rushed over to the bed and held him in a tight embrace.

"It's okay, it's okay. You're safe now." She stroked his temple gently with her finger while he quieted down.

His panting reduced and his clenched hands released gradually. He held tightly unto vanessa like one holding on to dear life.

She soothed him as much as she could. She had to put aside the difference between them and come to his aid. She recalled their first thunder storm together.

Greg hid behind the bed and clenched his toes and fingers, shutting his eyes to black out the storm. Vanessa was puzzled cause she didn't know what it was at first, she assumed it to be just phobia. She helped the way she could by holding him to herself and running her fingers through his hair.

He relaxed after a while, when the storm was over, he gave her the full download of his traumatic experience with thunder storm.

Immediately the weather changed, she hurried to his room despite the altercation they had this morning. No quarrel was enough to watch him suffer without providing help or comfort.

He calmed down a while later. The storm still went on but because the windows were shut, the noise was completely zeroed out. He opened his eyes gradually.

"Hey." She said in the softest and caring tone he'd ever heard. "Are you okay?"

He searched her face for a while, without thinking or saying a word, he reached for her lips with the warmest and sweetest kiss ever.

She kissed him back and they ate at each other like two starved lions. The kiss was passionate, a little bit fast paced, igniting them both like asteroids.

They both moaned as they kissed. Greg has been dying for a moment for this to happen, since his arrival he's been fighting the urge to reach out, pull her close and kiss every ounce of her, he missed her badly even his cells were aware of it.

Now that the opportunity stared at him in the face he was not willing to back down. He wrapped his arms around her slim waist and back. He held her even tighter than he did earlier.

All vanessa desired since his return was the possessive greg she married, he knew what he wanted and stepped in to get it no matter how difficult it was. She loved how he demanded for her in the past. His bossy tone turned her on each time, he knew how to make a woman completely submissive and she loved that about him.

But the greg that returned was different, he held back, seemed too afraid to get what he wanted from her as a wife and that made her felt second handed.

She thought he didn't care about her anymore and was only here for the baby. But now that he made a reckless abandon move and kissed her, she felt desired again, she felt loved, she felt like the prized possession of the billionaire himself, gregory thompson.

She smiled in her heart as the kiss went on, she didn't want to stop and neither does he.

Just when it should've moved to the next phase he stopped. "I'm sorry." He said in a cold tone then turned facing the wall.

Vanessa touched her lips in shock. What just happened? "What do you mean by you're sorry?" She asked, her tone sounded mad a bit.

"Just leave." His tone was even icier this time.

"What?!" Vanessa thought. "This is about victoria isn't it?" Her question shot darts of ice into him.

He grew still and couldn't say a word in response to her question.

She let out a laugh "so it's true what they say. Old flames burns stays in the heart forever. You're only here for your baby aren't you?" She scoffed then walked out of the room with the most disgusted hatred for him now, more than ever.

She slammed the door and the sound jolted greg where he sat. Vanessa would hate him more now, he thought. He backed off from the kiss because he didn't want possession, he wanted real love, affection. Vanessa has been fulfilling wife duty roles since they got married which he was enjoying at first until he fell in love with her.

Then he stopped and decided he wanted a romantic gentle relationship where no one is duty bound to another.

He'll wait for her no matter how long it takes to make her love him.
