As she was still halfway up the fence, Everly felt her body quivering as if she could sense a malevolent presence from miles away. Her gut told her that the kiss she'd just planted on Cassian might have turned him into a homicidal maniac!
Once she'd leaped from the top of the fence to the ground like a seasoned cat burglar, Everly took off like a shot towards the ancestral hall in the heart of the Zhou family manor garden.
But as she got closer, she had to duck behind some bushes, feeling like a sneaky thief. She peeked out to see if the guard who was supposed to be watching her kneel for two hours in there was still occupied with... well, something that definitely needed to be censored to protect the innocent eyes and minds of minors.
One look at the guard, sitting there all relaxed with a face that said he'd just returned from cloud nine, and Everly knew exactly what he'd been up to. He'd clearly just finished having a little "hahahihihoho" session with the manor chef.
