Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 I Have No Chance for Redemption

Jerome.

The devil in Lana's heart was walking step by step towards her hiding place, and suddenly stopped after hearing a voice.

A dark figure appeared behind Jerome.

"Who?"

Jerome turned back nervously.

With his keen perception, he hadn't noticed how the other party appeared behind him, which made him nervous.

"Is that you?!"

After seeing the identity of the dark figure clearly, Jerome retreated a step in fear.

"It seems you are quite immersed in your masterpiece?"

The person from the dark figure walked step by step towards Jerome, who was retreating.

"You… I don't understand what you're talking about?!"

Jerome swallowed, stammering.

Gone was the arrogance and composure he had at the dance hall, replaced only by deep fear.

Lana, hiding behind the statue, was completely filled with shock.

She couldn't believe that this devil, who had wantonly attacked his classmates at the dance, would actually have someone he feared.

Who was it?!

While feeling fear, she also developed intense curiosity about the dark figure in the shadows.

Thump! Thump!

The dark figure walked out of the shadows, and the familiar face of the other party made Lana cover her mouth.

That was Eric Kent?!

Clark Kent's brother.

Why was he here?

Why was this devil so afraid of Eric Kent?

Countless questions flashed through Lana's mind.

"You certainly understand, Jerome, after all, you've just accomplished something no one else could—turning the Homecoming Dance into a bloody dance. It's incredible; sometimes, sanity and madness are but a thin line apart."

Eric, using his Super Vision, found the instigator of the dance, Jerome, before Clark did.

Watching the other party's eyes, which were timid yet filled with madness, Eric expressed his thoughts.

"So you've come to stop me?"

Rage instantly surged in red-eyed Jerome.

Madness had overcome timidity; now, he no longer wanted to run away!

"When they hung me on a cross, humiliating me to the extreme, you didn't come to stop it. When they stripped off my clothes and painted on my body, you didn't stop it. Now you want to be an emissary of justice! Put away your hypocritical face, you bastard!"

Jerome, whose eyes had turned silvery-white, was covered in lightning, and instantly moved in front of Eric.

The lightning filling his body, like a great snake breaking free from its restraints, lunged at Eric, baring its fangs and claws.

The powerful aura made Lana, hiding behind the statue, change color involuntarily.

That terrifying lightning had struck down Whitney and instantly turned Flack into charcoal.

Even just a glance filled Lana with dread!

Seeing the other party attack Eric, she covered her mouth, already imagining Eric's tragic end.

Bang!

Jerome's punch was casually blocked by Eric.

All the silver lightning in the sky struck Eric's body, but it couldn't knock him down.

Not only did it not knock him down, but it also seemed to have caused him no damage.

Lana stared wide-eyed at everything before her.

What was this?

Could it be that Eric was even more terrifying than this devil?

Lana, shocked beyond belief, had various thoughts arise in her mind that she herself found incredibly absurd.

Eric blocked Jerome's attack with one hand, and suddenly extended his other hand, gripping the other party's neck.

"Crack!"

In Jerome's disbelieving gaze, Eric twisted the other party's neck.

The lightning that covered his body also dissipated in an instant.

The devil in Lana's eyes was easily strangled by Eric.

After dealing with Jerome, Eric casually tossed the other party's corpse to the ground.

Originally, his plan was to learn from the other party how to use kryptonite to enhance superpowers, or how a physique affected by kryptonite could awaken superpowers.

If the other party was smart enough, there might still be some value in keeping him, but Eric quickly realized that there was no need to keep such an idiot.

After dealing with Jerome, Eric glanced behind the statue.

Lana quickly covered her mouth, not daring to breathe.

Eric had no interest in his brother's goddess; he glanced at her and then left directly.

In the dance hall, Clark, who had rushed over, looked at everything before him in shock.

All the sprinklers in the hall were on, countless nozzles spraying water droplets, dousing the burning flames in the hall, and splashing crimson water upon hitting the ground.

The flowing water gradually diluted the blood on the ground.

Several students lay on the ground, their fates unknown.

Clark recognized them; they were members of the football team.

Flack, Tommy, Ross—he even saw Lana's boyfriend, Whitney.

Individual victims lying on the ground who hadn't yet lost consciousness let out faint moans.

Clark didn't know if they were meaningless moans of pain or pleas for help directed at him.

"How could this be?"

Clark, his heart filled with immense self-reproach and pain, knelt heavily on the ground.

The spraying water fell on his face, mixing with tears and sliding down his cheeks.

I could have saved them!

This is all my fault!

Clark bowed his head, his hands clenched into fists against the ground, trembling all over.

"Clark."

Just as Clark was immersed in immense pain, a familiar voice sounded in his ear.

In the torrential "downpour," Clark blurredly raised his head.

Eric stood beside him, looking at him expressionlessly.

"Eric, you… you knew what happened here all along, and you knew who the culprit was all along, didn't you?"

Clark thought for a moment and then understood the whole story.

"Why? You could have stopped all of this!"

Clark, his eyes red, stood up, his voice trembling, anger almost gushing out.

"I don't think you would believe me, Clark."

Facing his older brother's angry questioning, Eric's tone remained as calm as indifference.

"Because now you believe in power more than you believe in me. Superman's power makes you happy, dangerous, and it will also cause you to regress to relying on power rather than skill, training, and wisdom, tempting you to lose your judgment."

"Prejudice, stubbornness, tunnel vision, Clark, these are the mistakes you've made. If you want to choose your correct path, you must see the price these mistakes will lead to!"

"So you are blameless?" Clark glared at Eric, fire burning in his eyes.

"Because we are different people! You are light, I am darkness; you are love and order, I am violence and chaos! Words like 'save' and 'redemption' have never been associated with me. So, Clark, don't demand me to meet your standards, and don't expect me to be a savior who saves others."

Eric's words were still utterly cold.

He shifted his gaze, and through multiple obstructions, he saw the ambulance and ambulance rushing from a distance.

After glancing at the football team members lying on the ground, Eric turned and left directly.

Inside the water-spraying hall, Clark stood silently, motionless.
