"Hey, Eric!"
On the farm, Eric closed his sketchbook, ready to take a break and go downstairs for a glass of iced lemonade, when the door suddenly opened and an uninvited guest entered the room.
Lana, dressed in a light purple dress, walked slowly towards Eric and greeted him.
"I thought you went to Lex's wedding. I was just going to stop by and check, but I didn't expect you to still be here."
Lana smiled faintly at Eric.
Lana, who had specially dressed up, looked radiant today.
Eric hadn't expected Lana, who originally seemed a bit delicate and small, to look like a completely different person after dressing up.
After secretly comparing her to Akins, Catwoman, and Wonder Woman, he concluded that she was still somewhat flat.
"I was delayed because of some things," Eric replied casually, picking up his iced lemonade. "Looking at your formal attire, were you invited by Lex Luthor to be a bridesmaid?"
"Yes, Dr. Helen invited me to be a bridesmaid. I didn't expect them to get married so early."
Lana walked over and sighed, "But sometimes happiness comes so suddenly, maybe it will arrive in the very next second."
She looked at Eric with a deep gaze. "Dr. Helen looks very happy. I envy her."
"Hmm."
Eric put down his glass and nodded.
"I don't think someone like Lex Luthor would be dragged into a grave by love and marriage. His nature cannot change. If the premise of marriage is mutual trust, then the end for the two of them will be a tragedy."
Eric continued to display his 'sharp tongue,' cursing them to a 'tragic end' right after they got married.
"Uh…"
Lana gave an awkward laugh, unsure how to respond.
"Clark."
Eric seemed not to notice Lana's awkward expression, turning his head to shout upstairs, "Clark, you're going to be late."
Since Clark was also a groomsman and Lana had shown up at this time, Eric, who had no interest in high school girls, motioned for Clark to hurry and go to the wedding with Lana.
After Clark appeared from upstairs, he awkwardly greeted Lana.
"Hi, Lana!"
"Hi, Clark!"
Lana hadn't expected Clark to still be at home and was a bit embarrassed that Clark might have heard what she had just said.
"I…"
She hesitated, then looked at Eric, "I'm going to the wedding. Do you want to come along?"
"I'll go later, Clark," Eric said to his older brother, "You take Lana."
Clark, who would usually eagerly run off to take Lana, hesitated this time.
A few minutes later, after dropping Lana off outside the farm, Clark stopped and looked at the goddess in his heart with a complicated expression.
"Sorry, Lana, I have some things to deal with today, so…"
Lana acted as if she understood. "I understand. But Clark, are you okay?"
She felt that Clark's mental state was not very good.
"I'm fine. It's getting late, you go on ahead."
Clark forced a smile and chuckled at her.
Although Lana had a bad premonition, she didn't press further and could only turn and leave.
After Clark returned to the room, Eric prepared to have a good talk with him.
He noticed that Clark's mood had been a bit off lately.
Was it because of his frequent sleepwalking?
Just as he was about to speak, the phone in the living room rang, and Eric had no choice but to answer it.
After a few words with his mother on the other end of the line, he packed up his things, preparing to head to Luther Manor.
After telling Clark a few words not to delay too long, Eric turned and walked out.
"Eric!"
Just as Eric pushed the door open, Clark called out to him.
"What's wrong?"
"No, nothing."
Clark took a breath and replied to Eriel, "It's nothing."
After Eric left, Clark was in a daze for a while, then pulled out a new, hardcover edition of "cthulhu Appreciation and Evaluation" from his pocket.
He had run to several bookstores in Metropolis specifically to buy this book, which highly praised Eric.
His original plan was for it to be Eric's birthday present soon.
After some thought, he put away the specially prepared gift, his eyes fixed on the distance, instantly becoming serious.
Luther Manor.
Lex greeted Eric, "Eric, thank you for coming to my wedding."
"You're welcome. After all, this is a rare grand event in the town."
After Eric replied to him, he returned to his parents' side.
Just as he sat down, Ms. Aikins, wearing a sexy red dress, sat down next to him.
The charming Ms. Aikins greeted Martha and Jonathan.
"Hi, Mr. Kent, Mrs. Kent."
Jonathan didn't quite react to her sitting so close to Eric and greeting him so warmly; he was momentarily stunned, then quickly replied to her.
"Hello, Ms. Aikins."
"I heard you are attending the wedding as Lex's parents. You must be people Lex greatly respects."
Ms. Aikins complimented Jonathan and Martha.
"Thank you."
Jonathan politely thanked her.
When she turned her face to talk to Eric, Martha blinked and whispered to her husband, "Who is she?"
"Ms. Aikins, Eric and Clark's biology teacher."
Upon hearing "biology teacher," Martha immediately understood.
Was she Clark's "enlightenment teacher"?
She glanced at her.
In her opinion, she was also a very sexy woman, no wonder she had triggered Clark's Heat Vision ability.
Eric asked the woman sitting next to him, pressing close to him, "Why are you here?"
"Didn't I tell you before?"
Akins subtly touched Eric's thigh with her long leg, "I also know Lex."
"By using your ability to control his thoughts, right?"
Eric immediately exposed her secret.
Akins did not deny it, leaning closer to Eric, lowering her voice, her bright red lips near his ear, and smilingly said, "Isn't it normal for a woman to conquer a man with her beauty? The only difference is that my ability in this area is too outstanding, but you can't deny my excellence because of that, can you?"
Eric grabbed the long leg she had extended under the table. "If you don't know how to restrain yourself in important occasions, I don't mind having a few more English words on your body."
"Are you sure?"
Akins, who had restrained herself for a few seconds, immediately became a bit excited. "It's a deal, let's set a time, just you and me in that kind of setting. If you go back on your word, you'll be punished, you know."
"?"
Eric looked at her excited expression, a bit puzzled.
Could it be that this woman was a masochist now?
Jonathan and Martha next to them did not notice their whispering, instead showing worried expressions. "Clark hasn't arrived yet for some reason."
Then, turning to Eric, he asked, "Eric, did you see Clark when you came?"
"He told me he would be here soon."
Eric also felt doubtful and activated his Super Vision, looking towards the farm.
But his vision did not catch sight of Clark.
Just as he was about to continue using Super Vision to search for him, Helen and Lex came forward, and as a groomsman, Eric had to participate in the wedding activities. Helplessly, he could only get up and give up on searching for Clark's figure.
"Clark hasn't arrived yet?"
Taking advantage of a break in the activities, Lex quietly asked Eric.
No sooner had he spoken than a sudden change occurred!
The ground suddenly trembled!
The ground shook violently, the pews in the auditorium crashed into each other, and people who lost their balance rolled on the floor.
The chandelier on the ceiling swayed, then crashed to the floor with a loud bang.
The priest on the altar also lost his balance, falling heavily to the ground, knocking over the altar with a loud thud.
The rolling altar crashed towards the guests below, knocking down those who couldn't react in time.
A single word popped into everyone's mind—earthquake!
The crowd screamed and ran outside, pushing each other, with some even being shoved to the ground.
As for Eric, he had already taken his parents and used Super Speed to leave the church the moment the earthquake struck.
As he left, he also grabbed Akins by the collar of her evening dress and threw her out.
Thud!
Akins's body slammed heavily into the fountain outside the church, leaving her soaked.
After rescuing Jonathan and Martha from the chaotic and unsafe church, Eric did not extend his rescue to others.
He simply stood calmly with his parents, watching the commotion.
He had no interest in rescuing everyone in the auditorium.
Given his current speed, it was not impossible to rescue everyone the moment the earthquake occurred. But compared to rescuing everyone and then having countless troubles afterwards, he preferred to be a cold observer.
Anyway, the lives of these people were none of his business.
"Martha, are you okay?"
Jonathan, who had felt the ground shake and then suddenly found himself outside, glanced at Eric beside him, knowing that his younger son had saved him.
Martha gave her husband a reassuring look, let out a long breath, and looked towards the auditorium from which terrified screams were coming, covering her mouth, "Oh my god! Why is there an earthquake here?"
"I don't know, this is very unusual. The town has never had an earthquake."
Jonathan shook his head, his face serious.
The earthquake lasted only a few seconds, the tremors were not very strong, and the auditorium did not collapse, but many people inside the wedding venue were stained red due to trampling and falling objects.
What was originally a romantic white wedding turned into a bloody wedding.
"Eric, call the hospital."
Jonathan said, taking off his clothes and preparing to rush in to save people, but Eric pulled him back.
"The earthquake hasn't stopped yet, wait a moment."
Jonathan wanted to say something more, but seeing Eric's resolute gaze, he could only nod helplessly.
After simply dealing with the scene and sending all the injured to the hospital, Jonathan said goodbye to Lex and prepared to leave.
Lex was luckier, only suffering a few scrapes. With a heavy expression, he bid farewell to Eric and Jonathan, then immediately went to comfort his wife.
Akins, soaking wet, glared at Eric before leaving.
It was unclear if she was blaming Eric for ungentlemanly throwing her into the fountain, or if she was blaming him for not contacting her lately.
After getting into the pickup truck, Jonathan stepped on the gas, accelerating towards home.
He had a vague bad premonition that this strange earthquake might be related to Clark.
Because his wife was pregnant, he didn't dare to press the accelerator to the maximum, so he could only worry alone.
Eric, sitting in the passenger seat, had a serious expression, one hand resting on the pickup's window, lost in thought.
He could feel some kind of energy impact the moment the town's earthquake occurred.
In his opinion, this was not an ordinary earthquake, but a disaster caused by some kind of energy burst.
Was it related to Clark?
Martha, sitting in the back seat of the pickup, cast a worried gaze at the scenery outside.
The utility poles on the ground were toppled by the earthquake, and buildings were damaged.
She even saw people on the roadside clutching their bleeding heads, calling for medical assistance.
After Jonathan drove to the farm, he stopped the car and jumped out of the pickup.
The farm was likely closer to the epicenter; the fence had collapsed, a corner of the barn was damaged, and even the living quarters had suffered varying degrees of damage.
"Clark!"
As soon as he got out of the car, Jonathan immediately shouted around him.
"Clark, where are you?"
"Dad."
Eric looked towards the northeast, remained silent for a moment, then said to Jonathan, "I saw Clark. He's not on the farm."
"Where is he? Eric, take me."
As he spoke, he jumped into the pickup truck, poked his head out of the car window, and said to a worried Martha, "Martha, you rest for a bit. Don't worry about us. Eric and I will be back soon."
Thud!
After Eric got in, Jonathan quickly closed the car door and sped off in the pickup.
His face was as gloomy as if covered with dark clouds.
Although he didn't know where Clark was or what he had done, his sense of unease grew stronger and stronger.
Eric also put away his usual indifferent expression, gazing at the scenery outside, his expression complex.
He hadn't expected Clark to actually go to such an extent!
Although his recklessness led to mistakes, the determination behind it surprised even him.
"Cough, cough, cough!"
Coughing, Clark, who was lying on the ground, rolled over, letting his back touch the ground, and looked up at the sky.
Around him was a huge deep crater, and Clark's clothes were reduced to rags, hanging sparsely on his body.
His hair was blasted as if permed, and his face was covered in dark mud.
All his strength was gone, and his whole body felt as if it had been ravaged by kryptonite.
Coughing, he clutched his chest and looked around, then lifted his feet, wanting to leave the deep pit.
With a splash, Clark fell to the ground and got a mouthful of dirt.
