Chapter 13 - The Rothrak Family

Taking off the single blue striped white headset, I slowly placed it on the charging desk beside the bed to let it recharge back to maximum capacity.

Even though the headset claims to go for more than a week on a single charge, I knew that the heat and humidity this room has is surely going to reduce that number by more than half, and if used for an extended time, it can even malfunction due to overheating.

Low chances, but never none.

"Installing an Air Conditioner in the entire house is going to move up in the priority list!"

I spoke out loud in irritation as I took off my sweaty clothes and then moved outside the room, and then towards the bath. Since it was already afternoon, mom had already gone to work, leaving me alone by myself, probably not gonna return before 9 in the evening.

-Spreee!

Turning on the shower, I began washing my entire body properly as I pondered what I should do for the next few hours.

Since it will take about 9 hours before the settlement people wake up, I had about 3 hours to kill. Though, I was going to take an extra hour here, since starting near the afternoon would let me complete a few more quests at once, saving the time of running around.

Perhaps… Since I have time to kill… it won't be too bad to check out the background of Daniels. What was his surname again? Rothrak, was it?

I kept thinking as I washed my entire body properly before changing into a fresh set of clothes. Since we did not have a washing machine, most of the clothes were hand-washed by my mother, or if we were liberal enough, they were given to the laundromat outside.

Being busy studying at the time, I barely had enough time to wash my clothes back then. I guess I should move the washing machine up the priority list too.

With a slight sigh, I shook my head and then collected all my dirty clothes in a deep red plastic handbag, then with steps I moved outside the house, and I reached a nearby laundromat.

The prices weren't exactly cheap, but since I could save some time and effort, I decided to pay for it. Plus the aunt working there knew both me and my mother so she gave me a small discount which was kinda cool.

"Thank you, Aunt Mary!"

Politely bowing to her, I then left from there and took the bus to High Valley where Daniel's house was. As I was sitting on the bus at the second last left corner seat, I also made sure to look up Daniel's family background and honestly… I was a bit taken aback.

Shit! They are RICH!

I screamed internally as I found this rather amusing given there was little of their name in the future where I came from.

Going further deep into my search, I found that Daniel came from a high-end family of Aristocrats, the Rothrak Family, who had a rather huge amount of generational wealth. They also had many family businesses and restaurant chains that were quite famous throughout the state, some of which I personally knew in my last life. Just that…

Their owners were different. Definitely not Rothraks.

Their main business however was in hotels and dojos.

The hotels earned them money and kept their generational wealth afloat. As for the dojos, it was more of a heritage that they kept carrying on with their pride on the line.

Summing up, a martial arts-rich businessman family.

Standing at the top of this all was the grandfather of Daniel, Armeas Rothrak, controlling the entire empire with his three sons and two daughters.

Focusing on Daniel, he was the third child, and second son, of the youngest son of Armeas, Alaric Rothrak. Daniel's father managed all the business within the High Valley City, and the neighbouring cities.

Daniel's elder brother had graduated from his college and was now managing the business with their father, Alaric. The second child, a prodigious girl, Freeda Rothrak, was a free-spirited woman who left to pursue her passion for painting overseas, so not much information was available about her.

-High Valley! High valley!

The automated voice in the bus called out, breaking me out of my thoughts, before I stepped out in the high-end environment, much different from the place where I lived.

If the place where I lived was borderline slums, then this was almost a historical fantasy land where nobles lived. Obviously with a modern touch to it here and there.

The surrounding houses were made of either exquisite white marble, or polished coloured stones that many won't even get the chance of witnessing in their life. And not a single house here did not have a garden with decorated flowers and gardeners tending to it. Heck, half of the place here had guards dressed royally outside the main gate with a spear in their hands.

"How did the poor ass me even become friends with that nouveau riche?"

I pondered it again before looking at the map on my smartphone for directions to Daniel's house. The 500 meters on the map slowly receded with each step I took, before I finally reached something akin to a white gigantic gate.

"Seriously? How do I even know you?!"

Dumbfounded, this time I mumbled out loud as I looked through the gate at the huge manor behind the garden beyond the gate.

The manor was at least 4 times bigger than the other houses, and the garden was probably far wider than the distance I just covered. And to be accurate, that was just what was visible in front of the manor.

-Honk!

A white limousine came as the guard rushed to open the door. The limousine slowly stopped before me as the black window receded, showing the face of a white haired man in his early 30s. He wore a neat three-piece white suit, and black framed glasses that shaded his blue eyes with a tinge of darkness.
