Chapter 35 - Chapter 35 People who don't work and live off others

As soon as she heard the name, An Ran couldn't help but feel nauseous and blurted out, "I've already broken up with him!"

An Mu's relaxed expression suddenly tensed up, and she asked nervously, "What happened?"

"I broke up with Yang Xu because he...he was having an affair with An Nuchun!" An Ran brought up the matter again, still unable to control her disgust and anger.

An Mu was shocked and couldn't believe it was true. "How is that possible?"

An Ran smiled and comforted her mother before explaining, "You know that An Nuchun has always liked to compete with me for things since we were young. She would take my toys, my clothes, and even the father I liked. Until we grew up, she even took my boyfriend..."

An Ran looked at her mother, who still couldn't believe it, and took a deep breath to calm her emotions before continuing, "Mom, don't worry about me. I'm married to Fu Lengyu, the CEO of the Emperor Group, and he will help us solve the company's problems."

An Mu was a smart woman, but she didn't want to think too much about this matter. "Are you okay now?"

An Ran smiled innocently as usual, her eyes curved like themoon, sweet and naive. "Of course I'm fine, Mom. We came in a hurry this time and will take the 6 o'clock flight back tonight. Take care of yourself, and I hope your illness will be cured by the time I come back next time."

An Mu nodded and touched her daughter's head with affection. "Don't worry about me. You should take care of yourself. Your well-being is more important than anything else."

She wanted to ask why Fu Lengyu didn't come with her daughter to visit her, but thinking about the interests involved in their hasty marriage, she could only feel heartache for her daughter.

In the following days, she accompanied her mother for walks and chatted with her during meals. They both tacitly avoided mentioning anything about marriage or the company.

As evening approached, Fu Lengyu called and urged An Ran to leave quickly, warning her that she would miss her flight if she didn't. Reluctantly, An Ran said goodbye and left.

As she boarded the plane, she looked back with a heavy heart, feeling the urge to cry. Fu Lengyu, sitting in the first-class cabin, closed his eyes and rested. When he finally opened them, An Ran gathered the courage to ask, "When will you come to Switzerland again? When can I visit my mother again?"

Fu Lengyu sneered and said, "I thought you were mute and couldn't speak!" An Ran felt embarrassed by his sarcasm.

"Come to see me whenever you feel like it! If you can please me, I'll let you use my private jet to visit your mother every day in Switzerland."

An Ran had no hope for such a proposal. If this devilish man was so easy to please, she wouldn't have had such a difficult time during this trip. She thought of the disgusting Mrs. Ante and Terri, and felt a deep disgust for Switzerland.

If it weren't for her mother's treatment, she wouldn't have thought of setting foot in this city again. Before leaving, An Ran sent a text message to Terri, detailing her affair with Ante, including the time and place. Whether or not they believed it didn't matter to her. As long as she could disgust those people, An Ran would be satisfied.

Returning to her home country, with familiar people, language and environment, An Ran still felt a sense of unfamiliarity. Despite living here for so long, everything and everyone she once knew could become so unfamiliar after bankruptcy. Without her father to shield her from the malice of society, An Ran realized for the first time that she needed to grow up and learn to take responsibility.

After returning to China, Fu Lengyu quickly immersed herself in work. An Ran thought she could continue to live her idle life as before, but on her first day off, Fu Lengyu called and scolded her over the phone, "You are still my secretary in name! A secretary should do what a secretary is supposed to do! Are you here to freeload off me?"

An Ran was stunned. She had accidentally put the call on speakerphone in the villa's living room, and the angry voice was heard by two or three maids nearby. Their mocking and gloating eyes made her very uncomfortable.

She apologized to Fu Lengyu on the other end of the phone, "I'm sorry, I'll come over right away." After the call ended, the butler kindly said, "Madam, I'll call the driver for you." The driver, with his slick driving skills and maneuvers, arrived at the entrance of the Emperor Group building in the shortest time possible. However, An Ran was still almost ten minutes late.

When An Ran arrived, Fu Lengyu was in a meeting. Lin Yu took An Ran to the personnel department to register and swipe her card, and they coincidentally arrived just as Fu Lengyu's meeting ended. The top floor CEO's office was spacious, luxurious and bright. An Ran faced Fu Lengyu, nervously explaining, "I thought this secretary position was only temporary. I'm sorry."

An Ran hoped that her apology would extinguish his anger, but she felt pessimistic. Fu Lengyu looked at her with a sarcastic glint in his eyes. "You think that becoming my wife in name means you can freeload off me without doing anything?"

An Ran used to be a spoiled princess, and no one had ever spoken to her so bluntly before. Feeling wronged, she was deeply embarrassed by Fu Lengyu's sarcasm.

"I'm not a freeloader..."

She could always find a job and support herself. At least then she could stay away from this devil during work hours!

Thinking of this, An Ran couldn't help but say, "If you dislike me freeloading, I'll go find a job outside..."

Fu Lengyu mercilessly mocked her, "Which company would dare to hire you, the An family's little princess?"

An Ran was so embarrassed that she wished she could find a hole to crawl into.

Her reputation had already been ruined by the scandal that had caused a sensation online. Coupled with her previous status in high society, it would be embarrassing to ask her old friends for a job. Even if she did find work, she would probably only be able to find the lowest-level jobs.

An Ran thought pessimistically that even being a front deskclerk was better than staying by Fu Lengyu's side.

However, this idea was doomed to never come true.

"In the future, you will be my secretary, and I will pay you the same salary as before. Similarly, if there are any losses due to your work mistakes, I will handle it fairly!"

As he said the last sentence, his tone became somewhat subtle.

An Ran's body tensed up, and she forced a smile and said, "Your secretary position is too important. I'm not familiar with the work yet, and I don't have any work experience. Maybe I should start with another position first and accumulate some experience before considering it..."

Facing Fu Lengyu's slightly mocking eyes, An Ran swallowed all the rest of her words.
