Chapter 42 - Anna's Calculation

"It was all a coincidence. I didn't even know that Ruirui was a child of your family, Lujia. Luye Bai, if you don't believe me, you can ask Ruirui!"

Ruirui was scared by the sudden tension between the two of them and stopped crying, but tears were still streaming down her face.

"Ruirui, tell him, did I intentionally get close to you? How did we meet? How did your hand get injured?"

Ruirui glanced at Luye Bai, then at Anran, and whispered, "I was looking for you with my snowman, and Bai Xue suddenly ran away. I chased after her and ran into big sister without looking where I was going. My hand was injured before, not because of big sister... "

After finishing, Ruirui cautiously added, "Big sister helped me find Bai Xue. I haven't said thank you yet... Uncle, can you thank her for me?"

Luye Bai had imagined a series of possibilities, but he never thought that things would turn out like this.

As his anger gradually dissipated, he faced Anran, who had been wrongly accused, with only embarrassment left. "Sorry..."

His dry voice sounded insincere and perfunctory.

Anran didn't expect that Ruirui's injury was not caused bythe fall just now, but was injured before. Hearing Luye Bai's insincere apology, she tugged at the corner of her mouth and said, "It's okay."

For a top-notch wealthy young master to say sorry was already good enough. It was impossible for them to apologize sincerely. Anran thought she had already seen the reality that good people don't get rewarded, and she was probably the example.

Handing the cat back to Luye Bai, Anran said in a business-like tone, "Your cat."

Luye Bai put down Ruirui in his arms, held her hand, and picked up Bai Xue with the other hand. "I still have to go back to work. Goodbye."

Anran silently prayed in her heart that she would never see him again.

However, just as she turned around and took two steps, Ruirui grabbed her wrist and said, "Big sister... if Baixue goes missing in the future, can you help me find her?"

The cat in Lu Yebai's arms, Xia snow, meowed suddenly. Anran glanced at Xiasnow and said to Ruirui firmly, "Be more careful in the future and don't let Xiasnow run around."

As she spoke, she pulled Ruirui's hand away. Today was just their bad luck! Anran glanced at her watch and suddenly felt a sense of terror as if doomsday had arrived!

It had been two hours!

She just hoped they wouldn't get caught this time, otherwise Anna, that woman, would definitely not let her off the hook!

Anran hurried back to the company, clocked in, and returned to her office, only to see Anna standing angrily by her desk.

Was it still possible to leave here now? Anran instinctively wanted to escape, but Anna had already spotted her and strode over in her high heels.

Anna accused her angrily, "You've only been working here for a few days? You're two hours late! Do you know what two hours means? Can't you be more responsible? Did you finish the report I asked you to do yesterday? Did you finish it?"

Anran lowered her head and felt like everyone in the office was laughing at her.

She said carefully, "I finished the report last night..."

She had worked overtime until she was exhausted and fell asleep at her desk just to finish those reports yesterday! She had even encountered that pervert, Fu Lengyu, because of it!

Anna raised her eyebrows and her eyes were full of embarrassing sarcasm. "When did you finish it? Show it to me!"

Anran gritted her teeth and walked around Anna. The report she had finished yesterday was on her desk, but... as she looked at her empty desk, Anran's eyes widened. She couldn't believe it and searched her desk several times, but there was nothing in her drawer!

"It's impossible..." Everything was done last night, how could it disappear overnight? Anna sneered and walked over, "Is this what you call 'done'? Where are the reports and data? Not only are you late, but you're also lying and making excuses! Anran, you have no professional ethics! If it weren't for Mr. Fu giving you this position, with your character, you wouldn't even qualify to serve tea in the office!"

Anran was anxious and denied desperately, "It's impossible, I had finished everything last night before leaving!"

"Finished before leaving? If I hadn't prepared in advance and made my own report analysis, I would have been in trouble today because of you! Anran, I'm really disappointed in you! You're not responsible for these important tasks for the time being, just assist everyone else! I don't think Mr. Fu would object."

Anna's eyes flashed with a hint of malice, but she pretended to be righteous and spared Anran.

Anran was stunned by this and looked straight at Anna, "The report...I made it, did you use my report?"

Anna frowned and sneered disdainfully, "You didn't even finish the report, how could I have used yours?"

Colleagues who were watching chimed in, "That's right! Anran, don't make baseless accusations. Anna did make her own report yesterday, and you didn't finish yours, so don't be so quick to blame others."

"It's not good to do this. Just admit your mistake, we're all colleagues in the same office, don't make it so ugly."

Anran held back her tears and looked at her colleagues, who were pretending to be kind and persuading her. Her tears blurred her vision, and she couldn't see their ugly faces clearly.

"I'm not sure if you used my report. Can you show me the report you used in the meeting?"

"The report has been given to Mr. Fu, and he took the data to the subsidiary for the meeting. You know this, so you're trying to slander me so recklessly, aren't you?"

Anran shook her head, feeling both aggrieved and anxious as she tried to explain to everyone, "I didn't...I just..."

As everyone listened to her clumsy explanation, they all showed expressions of disbelief and ridicule on their faces. Anna didn't even give her a chance to explain, and directly stamped her verdict: "I don't want to see this kind of thing happen again. An Ran, you'll be responsible for office chores from now on!"

With that, she left with her head held high. Everyone looked up to Anna's proud and triumphant figure, jokingly mocking An Ran: "An Ran, you don't have to be in charge of any independent work anymore. Come on, organize these materials and put them in a folder..."

"Can you pour me a glass of water? If you work harder, you can ask me any questions and maybe I can help you answer them..."

An Ran looked at these people, her pale face showing a look of resentment, wanting to refute and fight back, but in the end, she could only... succumb to reality.
