Chapter 13: You Don't Want Your Sister To…

Time flew by during cultivation.

A week later, Xiao Yuan once again arrived at the Dou Technique Hall.

This time, not only was it to return the High Yellow Tier technique Wind Hawk Kick, but also to choose a new technique for further training.

Over the past week, he had made decent progress with Wind Hawk Kick, but relying solely on leg techniques was limiting.

He needed to diversify his offensive arsenal.

After all, once Ya Fei finished gathering the cultivation materials for him, he'd be able to level up rapidly without any obstacles.

So these past few days, he had focused his attention entirely on martial technique training.

Based on his experience with Wind Hawk Kick, Xiao Yuan had confirmed one thing:

He seemed to have quite the talent for learning Dou Techniques.

This time, instead of rushing back to the third row for another High Yellow Tier technique, he returned Wind Hawk Kick and casually picked up a Low Yellow Tier technique from the first row: Stone Shattering Palm.

After skimming it briefly, he tried it out on the spot—just as he expected, it was instantly grasped.

He put down the scroll, unimpressed with such a basic technique, then moved on to the second row and picked up a Mid Yellow Tier scroll: Rending Claw Strike.

After reading for a while, he tried again.

Rending Claw Strike—mastered.

So, Xiao Yuan proceeded to the third row and selected another High Yellow Tier technique: Iron Mountain Fist.

Half an hour later, Xiao Yuan set the scroll down, deep in thought.

He'd learned Iron Mountain Fist too. But judging by the difficulty curve, the leap in training difficulty from low to high Yellow Tier wasn't much.

Which meant that Wind Hawk Kick really did exceed the norm for Yellow Tier—and might even surpass some low Xuan Tier techniques in difficulty.

If that was the case, these clan techniques were becoming meaningless.

With that thought, Xiao Yuan casually set the scroll aside and began walking out.

Clearly, the clan's martial techniques were no longer worth relying on.

So… it would have to be Sister Ya Fei again.

"Huh? Cousin Xiao Yuan came to the Technique Hall too?"

Just as Xiao Yuan was about to leave, a familiar voice called out from ahead.

"What, I'm not allowed to come here?"

Xiao Yuan looked up at the source of the voice, saw the fake-smiling Xiao Ning, and replied flatly.

"I thought you couldn't cultivate Dou Qi? What's the point of spending half a day in here?"

Xiao Ning feigned confusion, but his eyes revealed a mocking gleam.

"Your sister just left, and already you're looking for a beating?"

Xiao Yuan's lips curved into a smile as he asked calmly.

Xiao Ning's momentum faltered immediately.

As someone who'd been beaten by his sister since childhood, his fear of her ran bone-deep.

In Xiao Yuan's eyes, Xiao Yu was tall, graceful, with long stunning legs, gentle and beautiful.

In Xiao Ning's eyes, Xiao Yu was a dual-personality demon: sweet and loving when calm, a terrifying tyrant when angry.

"Even though she's at Jia Nan Academy now, before she left, she specifically asked me to keep an eye on you—to make sure you don't act stupid."

Xiao Yuan added lightly.

Hard! His fists felt hard!

Looking at the handsome guy in front of him who even had his sister charmed, Xiao Ning could barely suppress the urge to punch him.

"You think you can stop me?"

Xiao Ning growled, Dou Qi flaring up.

"Nope. But you don't want your sister coming back and stir-frying you with bamboo shoots, right?"

Xiao Yuan remained perfectly calm, smiling as he replied.

To Xiao Ning, that smile looked devilish.

"Sigh… kids these days. So much trouble."

Xiao Yuan sighed, patted Xiao Ning's shoulder with a grin, and walked around him, leaving casually.

Damn it! Why does my sister even like this guy?!

Xiao Ning turned and stared at Xiao Yuan's gracefully departing figure, veins bulging on his forehead as a sense of powerlessness washed over him.

He truly couldn't understand. His sister was not a shallow woman who judged based on looks. Why had she taken a liking to this so-called waste?

And she always defended him.

Sometimes, Xiao Ning even suspected that Xiao Yuan was her real brother.

Otherwise, how else could he explain why every time he targeted Xiao Yuan, his sister would show up just in time to drag him away by the ear?

Honestly, if that were the case, it wouldn't be so bad…

But right now, this so-called waste had a very real chance of becoming his brother-in-law.

Hard. His fists felt even harder.

Wait—why did Xiao Yuan come to the Technique Hall? Could it be… he really could cultivate now?

It's over.

That waste becoming his brother-in-law was now a bigger possibility than ever.

With that realization, Xiao Ning's anger faded, replaced by a deep, oppressive melancholy.

Xiao Yuan and his sister—one he couldn't out-talk, the other he couldn't outfight. His future looked grim.

It hurt. He wanted to cry.

Meanwhile, just as Xiao Yuan reached the door to his room, he found Payne already waiting there.

"Uncle Payne? Don't you have patrol duty today? What brings you back—did something come up with Uncle Tong?"

Xiao Yuan asked as he approached.

"Young Master, Miss Ya Fei from the Miteer Auction House sent word that everything is ready."

Payne bowed and stepped closer to speak quietly.

"Oh? Got it. You go ahead and get back to work, Uncle Payne."

Xiao Yuan nodded with a faint smile.

"Yes, Young Master."

Payne saluted again and turned to leave.

Watching him go, Xiao Yuan stood quietly for a moment, thoughtful.

Looks like Sister Ya Fei had prepared all the cultivation materials. Now, he could focus all his attention on training.

Xiao Yuan returned to his room, took his time cleaning up, then left and made his way, as usual, toward the Miteer Auction House.

Along the way, everything was smooth and unobstructed. Before long, he arrived at Ya Fei's office.

Knock knock knock!

He knocked gently.

"Come in."

Ya Fei's sultry voice rang out. Xiao Yuan's lips curled into a smile as he stepped inside.

"Good morning, Sister Ya Fei!"

Ya Fei turned her gaze toward the elegant young man entering the room, her eyes briefly lighting up.

Even though this wasn't her first time seeing him, his beauty still took her breath away.

"Hehe… looks like little brother Xiao Yuan even dressed up specially to see me? I'm honored!"

Ya Fei giggled softly, covering her mouth.

"Please, Sister Ya Fei, stop teasing me. Are the things ready?"

Xiao Yuan laughed lightly, then asked, a hint of eagerness in his tone.
