The sudden recoil made the gathered cultivators stumble. Yi Fan steadied himself and looked toward the source of the push with a sharp gaze.

Yi Fan entered the Inheritance Mansion and saw Su Yan sitting in front of the Dragon-Phoenix soul fragment altar. The room smelled faintly of old incense and cold metal. Yi Fan paused at the doorway and watched her quietly.
Yi Fan said to her, "There are two inheritances paired. To consume these you need another person. They can only be obtained by using Yin and Yang attributes at the same time. That means a man and a woman."
He spoke plainly. His words were simple, but the truth in them was heavy. The rule of paired inheritances had been clear; one alone could not make use of the whole.
Su Yan asked, "I heard that you are only a trial disciple, so how can you know this?"
Her tone was sharp. Suspicion showed in her eyes as she looked at him.
Yi Fan replied, "It's not important how I knew that. If I am not wrong, you already sensed this."
He did not want to argue about where the knowledge had come from. He only wanted her to understand the choice before them. He kept his gaze steady and calm.
Su Yan's eyes grew gloomy. She looked down at the fragment and tightened her fingers..

He felt the Yang Qi flow through him and warm his limbs. This room was rich in yang energy, and it fed him easily.
This place was a paradise for him. The clear, bright energy felt like an open path. He focused calmly and did not show strain.
A few hours later, Yi Fan succeeded in breaking through to the 5th layer of Qi Transformation. The breakthrough came steady and sure. He let the new strength settle into his core and breathed slowly as it calmed.
Su Yan was shocked by his progress and thought, "A few days ago he was only at the Body Tempering stage, but now he is in the Qi Transformation stage. He broke through from the 4th to the 5th layer within a few hours."
Her surprise mixed with quick calculation. A sudden rise like that changed how others would see him. It also changed what he might offer her.
Seeing his progress, she thought, "This will not be a bad idea if I become his woman."
She weighed the choices in her mind. The inheritance was dangerous and rare. Being his partner now could secure power and a future she wanted. She tried to hide the small hope that touched her.

His voice was plain and steady. He gave her the choice and the quiet option to leave.

She stood slowly, looked at him for a moment, then walked closer to the altar. Her face was calm, but inside she felt both fear and a quick spark of hope. The decision was made, and the stillness in the room returned.
