Chapter 18 - Chapter 18(1):Yang Kai died 2/2

Once again, the fierce battle between Yi Fan and Yang Kai escalated as Yi Fan launched his attack.

The cave air had grown tense. Small stones trembled with every strike; the light from their techniques threw strange shapes on the walls.

Yang Kai gathered his Yang energy, channeling it into a powerful maneuver to counter Yi Fan's relentless assault. His palms shining faintly as he focused. Around him the air seemed to hum with heat.

Yi Fan charged towards Yang Kai, his intentions clear. His figure blurred for an instant from the speed he had gathered.

Just as Yi Fan was poised to land a decisive blow, fortune seemed to smile upon Yang Kai, allowing him to narrowly evade the strike.

He twisted aside at the last moment, the edge of Yi Fan's attack missing him by a hair.

Quick to respond, Yang Kai tapped deeper into his reserves and prepared another attack.

This time, he summoned an immense quantity of Yang Qi and concentrated it within his fist.

With determination etched across his face, he unleashed this concentrated force, sent a beam of Yang energy on Yi Fan. The cave seemed to shrink under that light; the shadows fled from it.

The technique, known as the "Three Layer Burning Sun," was one that Yang Kai had meticulously crafted some time ago.

It was not only visually stunning but also devastatingly powerful, capable of inflicting severe damage on any opponent foolish enough to underestimate it.

Upon impact, the bim struck Yi Fan with relentless force, shattering the formidable earth-grade armor that had provided him protection. The armor crumbled into fragments, sharp pieces skittering across the stone floor.

The shockwave of the blow pushed Yi Fan back several steps. The force hollowed his chest for a moment and his whole body trembled from the impact. Pain spread through him like cold fire.

Yi Fan found himself injured from the blow, sustaining significant injuries that left him weakened and vulnerable in the aftermath of the clash.

Pain bit through him like a cold knife. His limbs trembled; breath came ragged. Still, his eyes did not lose their light. Driven by determination, he resolved to take a substantial risk.

In a surprising turn of events, Yi Fan seized the opportunity to launch a desperate counterattack. He hurled his emptiness sword directly at Yang Kai, targeting the area near his heart. The sword flew with terrifying speed.

The blade pierced through Yang Kai's defenses and almost near his heart.

Blood erupted from Yang Kai's mouth.

Staggering under the immense pain, Yang Kai fell to the earth, his consciousness slipping away as darkness enveloped him. His breaths came shallow and slow; his vision blurred at the edges. Yi Fan watched, panting, his own wounds burning from the earlier blow.

Yi Fan, witnessing the collapse of his body, looked on Yang Kai one last time and confirmed that Yang Kai was dead.

Then his eyes caught soul worming lotus and all the special techniques of the sect that were stored in this cave. He consume soul worming lotus and stored all the technique in his inventory.

Not only that, he found some special artifacts and took them into his inventory thinking that he would refine them later for using. He moved quickly and without hesitation.

He getout the emptiness sword from Yang Kai's body and left that place. Outside, the wind felt sharp on his face after the stuffy cave air.

After going outside he thought, "How will I get out from this hidden island?"

Then he muttered softly, "System, do you have any way?"

That his eyes caught movement far at sea.

At that time he saw a ship coming toward the island. Because the array that had hidden this island had already been deactivated, the ship entered easily. Yi Fan did not understand who they were.

He wondered, "Is this type of thing happened in novel?" He kept his distance and carefully investigated them from afar, making sure they posed no immediate threat.

Inside the cave, the body of Yang Kai — which had seemed dead — suddenly opened its eyes.

It began absorbing the surrounding spiritual energy. The deep wound that Yi Fan had given him healed again, the flesh knitting in a way no ordinary healing could explain.

This was no simple recovery. Something changed in the way Yang Kai moved when he opened his eyes; his gaze was colder.

At that time, outside, Yi Fan received a system notification.

[Error] [Error] [Error] [Warning: Because of host interference, the Heaven Chosen One died. Host life was in grave danger. We advised the host to leave this island as soon as possible.]

Yi Fan stared at the notification and thought, "Yang Kai died — I understand that — but why is my life in danger?" He did not ignore the warning. He had learned not to.

Back in the cave,

The injury Yi Fan had given to Yang Kai had already healed. Yang Kai sat cross-legged and absorbed surrounding spiritual energy to restore his strength. He did not speak.

After some time he murmured, "Yang Kai, rest in peace. I will take your revenge on Yi Fan as I take your body." This was no longer Yang Kai. It was an Earth Demon Immortal Soul that had taken over Yang Kai's body. Its voice was not the voice Yang Kai once used; it carried a hollow, ancient weight.

It sat calmly and drew in the cave's spiritual energy like a dry sponge drinking water. The wound closed, the blood stopped, and the new occupant of the body began to rise.

At that same moment, the ship drew nearer to the shore. Some people stepped down a plank and came onto the island. Yi Fan went forward to meet them, wiping the dust from his clothes.

The leader of the ship stepped forward cautiously. "You… you're a cultivator from the Crimson Cloud Sect, aren't you? What happened here?" he asked. Because Yi Fan had been given a Crimson Cloud uniform when he joined that exploration, the captain assumed he belonged to them.

Yi Fan slowly raised his head, his voice low yet heavy with grief. "We came… ten days ago, seeking the island's ancient treasures. During our journey from the first day an octopus continuously attacked us. For the first nine days, we survived. But on the tenth day we found this island. At that time there was an array here in opening it,drained Immortal Ascension stage cultivators' energy, and the octopus attacked again.

"Because the Immortal Ascension cultivators' spiritual energy drained, we failed to protect our ship and the octopus crushed it. Some of us only survived and, searching for food and shelter, we entered the forest. But unfortunately, there were many 4th, 5th and 6th stage beasts in that forest. In the end only I remained. There is a possibility some others are still alive on the island."

They listened carefully to his story, which he had prepared earlier and kept in his mind. The crew discussed among themselves.

Later Yi Fan found that this ship had been sailing toward the Yang Dynasty from Sea City and had seen this island for the first time once the mist lifted and the array deactivated.

They believed Yi Fan after they explored and found fierce beasts. The captain finally said, "Okay, we will take you with us, but our journey is to the Yang Dynasty. If you want to go back to Sea City you must first go to the Yang Dynasty."

Yi Fan agreed and boarded their ship. Yi Fan watched the island from the ship last time.
