Chapter 5 - 5

"Ah, how can they do this!"

Euler was filled with indignation when, after buying another portion of ice cream, she realized it weighed several grams less than stated on the package.

"I'll find that bastard and rip his head off!I paid for 200 grams of ice cream, and there's only 195 here! How can they cheat a poor girl like this?"

People around her were giving her strange looks.

But Euler didn't care.

What did it matter what they thought?Today was the last day before entering the Nightmare anyway, and she simply had to enjoy it to the fullest, especially since she might not return tomorrow at all.

So,ignoring the judgmental stares, Euler yawned widely, then took her box of ice cream and headed to another department.

Surprisingly, the remaining three days had been quite productive.

She ate well, discovered more about her abilities, studied what might await her in the Nightmare, and bought herself a special sleep capsule for the basement, so her defenseless body would have at least some protection from unsavory people.

She also recalled basic combat stances.

After her rebirth—as she now called it—most of her old memories felt like a distant movie,as if it wasn't her who had been there, but she was just observing them.

Because of this, she had forgotten how to fight and defend herself.

This made her quite vulnerable for the upcoming trial.

She was perfectly aware of this;at first, she did nothing because she was lazy, but spent the last three days re-learning everything.

However, at this moment, a slightly different question concerned her.

"I wonder, how did the Spell even adjust me to my new height? I used to be almost 2 meters tall, and now I'm just over one-sixty. By all laws of physics, I should have forgotten how to walk and move. But the Spell doesn't obey laws, otherwise it wouldn't exist at all. So, why am I asking such stupid questions? It's obvious! Hmm, I wonder, could the Spell have made me into someone completely different? Maybe even left my hair dark?"

Euler was thinking out loud quite quietly, but people still glanced at her warily, wondering if she'd lost her mind.

Reaching another aisle, she grabbed several cans of soda and a couple of bottles of iced tea, then checked out at the register and paid with her eyes closed.

Of course, she knew she would soon plunge into her second Nightmare and the money would become dead weight, but it was still hard for her to spend it.

Actually, the hard part wasn't spending it, but the fact that she wasn't earning it back, as she was used to being able to spend a certain amount and then get it all back later.

But that wasn't possible now.She had no job, but she had needs. So she had to spend her savings.

In these 7 days, she had spent almost half, which was a lot.

Walking through the passage,Euler turned onto the street and headed straight for her house.

A couple of minutes later, she was there.

Unlocking the door with her key and going into the kitchen, she placed several large bags full of various delicious food she had bought on the table.

After all, today was her last day in this world for the duration of her second Nightmare, or forever. She hoped for the former, so she quickly brushed away the unpleasant thoughts.

Going to the bathroom, she washed her hands, dried them thoroughly with a towel, and returned to the kitchen.

Opening a soda and munching on a cookie, she said:

"Who knew they were so delicious?Should have bought more. It's a pity I used to be sad and cold; it's good that I'm different now. Or maybe not good, it depends on how you look at it."

Finishing the soda and opening another one,Euler became thoughtful, continuing to eat.

Yesterday she had read everything she could about the Dreamrealm and had a rough idea of what it was like.

There was the Bastion and the forests around it,under the control of the Valor Clan.

The Stormy Sea,under the control of the House of Night.

And the Chain Islands, under the control of another clan, also a great one, but she had forgotten its name.

There were also several lethally dangerous places:the Hollow Mountains—it was written that they were incredibly high peaks whose tops were hidden in the clouds.

And also Gongrave,or, like, it's also called the God's Corpse.

It's a huge skeleton about five thousand kilometers long, its bones hollow inside, and also full of all sorts of abominations, and Euler knew she would die there in a couple of minutes.

Moreover, there were the Heavens. Sometimes the clouds in the Heavens part, and the light from there incinerates everything it falls upon.

Because of this, those bones were still white as snow, and hadn't been taken over by hundreds of different abominations.

Also, beneath the enormous bones was a vast desert of ash, which was no less dangerous.

Therefore,Euler's priority was to end up in at least the first three areas.

Because only there did she have any chance of survival, since, although those places were still full of monsters, at least there were other people and also citadels with exits from the Dreamrealm.

But Euler knew that everything depended only on chance, because she could be dumped on an island next to a citadel just as easily as in the very center of Gongrave, or Godgrave?

In short, her death or life were a matter of chance, and she could do nothing about it.

So,instead of worrying and tormenting herself, she just said 'to hell with it all' and relaxed on her last day on earth.

However, one thing worried her, namely her abilities.

Yes,of course, she couldn't decide where she would end up; that was impossible.

But surviving if she ended up in the wrong place was her responsibility. And she wasn't at all happy that her ability still didn't obey her and worked completely randomly. Well, not entirely: it worked based on her strong desire at moments of intense emotion and summoned something that was supposed to help her, however, the help wasn't always useful, sometimes even the opposite—dangerous and injurious.

So her survival was questionable because of her ability. If she couldn't quickly master it in the Dreamrealm—well, unless she already reached a citadel—then she would have a very hard time.

At that moment, she felt very tired.

It was already evening, and she had to go to sleep to enter her second Nightmare.

Yawning, she finished the last can of soda, threw out all the trash and cleaned up, then went down to the basement, completely undressed, climbed into the capsule, and almost instantly fell asleep.

[Welcome to the Dreamrealm, Euler!]

Hey, I noticed that my chapters are kind of... short and wordy, that's just it. I don't know how to fix it yet, but I'm thinking about it. It so happens that I always write with a reserve of chapters, I already have 10 of them, and I'm honestly too lazy to redo them, so I'll start working well from chapter 10, everything is much better there and when I read it myself

I really liked it
