Chapter 13 - Prince William Of Evermore

Meanwhile, far across the kingdom, prince Williams sat on the throne, reading the scroll sent to him by the King of the North. He frowned, throwing the scroll in anger and everyone flinched.

"How dare him," he sneered. How dare him invite them for their wedding after what he did to the kingdom. Prince Silas went to the scroll, picking it up and reading through. Then he looked up, breathing out.

"Elder brother should please calm down, so we don't make any irrational action," he said, folding the scroll calmly. William turned to him, getting even more angry.

"Calm down? Have you forgotten what he did to our kingdom? He caused a heavy massacre, killing our father and he took our sister. How can we possibly go for such a disgraceful wedding?" he asked. Silas crossed his arms in front of him, he knows his brother doesn't care about their sister. He is only angry because the courtiers are against him being the king, after the attack, it has been hectic in the palace, he is simply tired of it all.

"We are not the first kingdom to be attacked by the King of the North, and certainly not the last, we are no special," he said and everyone agreed with him.

"So, what are you suggesting we do?" Prince Williams asked, folding his arms.

"Attend the wedding and be in the king's favor, then we can strengthen our kingdom. The King of the North is a bigger king than King Elvis. His ally with us would help us grow," he said. Silas is never the one to get his emotions involved, that is why the courtiers want him to be king. His brother is irrational, hot tempered with a big ego and cares way too much about women. He is exactly like their father, Silas is happy the old man is dead, he was never a good man to his family and kingdom. And Silas would rather side with the King married to his sister than support his enemy. He wonders how she's doing.

"What nonsense are you sprouting off your lips!" Prince William yelled, breaking the small table in front of him.

"The 5th prince is right, sire. We must think about the political aspects and keep our emotions aside. The Northern Kingdom is a great kingdom, one of the best kingdoms there is and also the center of trade and their king has taken a liking to our princess. We should all go to the wedding and be in their good book," a courtier said, bowing his head. Silas nod his head in approval.

"What nonsense are you saying, Elder Titus. The king came here and killed our people, he killed our king, how can we honour such a wedding?" another courtier said.

"We are already at a disadvantage here, other kingdoms would frown down upon us and we would be a target. The Northern king never had the intention of attacking us, for three months he asked for the princess hand in marriage. We all know he is not known to be a patient man but he wanted to do it the right way, but the king remained adamant and if anyone is to be blamed by what happened, it's the dead king. He is the cause of everything!" he yelled and everyone just watched as it turned into an argument. Few of the other princes agreed with Silas, but the rest were on William's side.

"Enough!" Silas yelled and they all kept quiet. William looked at the scene and he tried his best to hide his anger. His little brother always finds a way to outshine him, he would have never been able to calm the courtiers down, they are all old angry men but with Silas, they obey him and respect him. He might be the king soon, but he knows as long as he is here, he will never be able to get the respect his brother has.

"Let's listen to our crown prince," Silas said and William grabbed his throne.

"I stand on my decision, we will not be attending the royal wedding," he said, standing up and walking away. As he left, he bumped into Silas. He breathed out, he knew his brother would have stood on his decision. His pride is as high as their father's. Silas heads to his chambers, when he gets there, he starts packing his bag.

"Are you going for the royal wedding?" a soft voice asked. He turned around and it was his last brother Otto.

"Yes," he said.

"You know brother would ambush you on your way, that is an opportunity to kill you," he said, walking inside.

"I know, I am ready for them. I am not the best warrior for nothing," he said, chuckling. Otto looked at him. If he is not here, he is going to be bored. Daphne already left him and he misses her so much, how is he going to survive without his favourite brother?

"I want to come with," he said and Silas shook his head.

"No, it's dangerous," he said.

"Well, I can't stay here either. I don't like anyone here and you are not here to protect me, Daphne is not here to back me up. What am I going to do?" he asked. Silas sighed, turning to him. He may have spoiled his brother, he is raising a weakling.

"I have spoiled you too much," he said and Otto chuckled.

"Take me with you brother," he said and he nodded his head.

"Fine, go grab a coat, that's the only thing you need," he said and Otto smiled excitedly, running to his chambers. Silas smiled, he already made plans since Daphne left, he was only waiting for the king to send them an invitation.

He knows his brother would attack him on the way to the ship, that is why he already made plans. He has been worried about Daphne, hoping to the lord the king has not killed her yet. She is extremely sharp, mouthed and naughty, he can't count how many times he has saved her from their father's cruelty. Sometimes, he feels Daphne doesn't care for her life, her mouth has no filter. With him there, he would be able to control her words.

Soon, Otto came back and they both wore their thick coats, leaving the palace sneakily. If they use the boat, they would be able to get to the kingdom faster, he has prepared the boat. Now all he has to do is make sure he and Otto don't die on their way.

"They left the palace?" William asked, sipping his wine.

"Yes, sire," the guard said.

"Good, make sure they both don't return," he said and he nodded his head leaving. An eerily feeling filled the air as Williams broke the flower vase in anger. The servants flinched and hoped in their heart someone would save them from Prince William's wrath. Once he becomes king, he would be worse than the former king.
