Chapter 12 - Tactless Princess

It was the next day, and Daphne was heading to the dining room for her breakfast. She is particularly energetic this morning, and she is excited to have breakfast. She has no idea what she would do to Queen Rose, but before she plans anything, she has to know their reaction to her. She is giving them all one last chance to correct their footsteps; if not, they are about to see the wrong side of her.

"Her lady seems happy this morning," Agnes said, following after her. Daphne smiled.

"I am glad, relieved I finally get to leave the depressing bed and go back to my normal life," she said, a bright smile on her face. Agnes chuckled.

"I am happy her lady is finally out of danger," she said, and Daphne nodded her head.

"Do you mind telling me what happened?" she asked, looking at Agnes. Agnes bit her inner cheek. His majesty has ordered them to keep quiet about what happened; she would be punished if she said anything, and she doesn't want her lady to be angry at her. Daphne saw her hesitation, and she looked away. How long does his majesty think he can protect her? She grew up in the palace; she knows the ways of the palace. The more he tries to protect her, the messier things get; it's a complete waste of time.

"I know his majesty ordered you not to speak a word about it; you don't have to beat yourself up," she said, and Agnes breathed out in relief. Daphne would have to take matters into her own hands; they are already trying to kill her and she just got here. She simply won't sit around and act like a princess in distress waiting for his majesty to save her, she has to save herself first.

She got to the dining room and the doors were opened, she entered inside and they all turned to look at her. Daphne was surprised to see his majesty by the head table, she didn't think he would be here. Anyways, she put on a bright smile, walking towards them

"Good morning, your majesty," she greets, bowing her head. Alexandro looked at her and he wondered, should he be scared she was smiling so brightly, greeting him and bowing her head or does she have a shift in character after hitting her head? Alexandro nodded his head slowly. Daphne turned to the queen and they were all complete, looking at her weirdly.

"Good morning queens and concubines, trust you had a wonderful night," she said, her pearly white teeths out as she smiled widely. Alexandro choked on his food, coughing out badly as his eyes widened. Daphne turned to him, surprised.

"Is his majesty okay?" she asked, patting his back softly. They all looked at her, shocked and dumbfounded. No one has ever greeted them all like that, they are all considered queens even though his majesty married some as queens and some as his concubines. She said it with a lot of sarcasm and disrespect, they are all blown away. Alexandro drank his water and after drinking it, he felt better. He looked at Daphne and her actions just now have blown him away. But Daphne wasn't looking at him, instead she stared at their faces.

"Queen Aurora always complained how I don't show my respect by bowing my head and greeting everyone whenever I come to the dining room. But now, I have done that and seems not to be getting any replies," she said, a sad look on her face.

"Her lady is being disrespectful with her greetings, you don't address us with queens and concubines," Aurora snapped and Daphne frowned.

"Pardon me, I simply did that because his majesty married queens and concubines. He crowned just 5 queens here. The rest have lost their titles to concubines, it doesn't matter what title they hold in their kingdom, they are now concubines, why are they addressed as queens?" she asked. Alexandro sucked in a breath, what is she doing? She is never the one to say things without any filter. He keeps seeing different sides of her everyday.

"Her lady seems to be forgetting his majesty might marry her as a concubine," Aurora snapped, losing her patience. Daphne smiled, waving her off.

"Oh, her majesty doesn't have to worry about that. I simply do not care if I was a queen or concubine. I could be a servant even, but what matters is, I have his majesty's heart, that automatically makes me his queen," she said, smiling deviously and their eyes widened in shock. The servants couldn't believe their ears and Alexandro was too stunned to speak. Daphne giggled softly.

"But of course, that is only a joke. His majesty loves and treats all his women equally," she said and Daphne was starting to feel dizzy. She feels weak and she has terrible migraines, but she could use it to her advantage.

"How despicable!" Aurora yelled and all the women glared hard at her. Daphne flinched, her body moving backwards as the headache hit her the more. She breathed out shakily, struggling to stand on her feet.

"I'm sorry my queen. I was only trying to lighten the mood. I have no idea what has gotten into me, I only woke up to see myself on the sick bed with no idea what went wrong and the medicine is making me act out of character, please forgive me," Daphne said and Aurora couldn't make her out of anything. Daphne lost control of her leg and before she fell, Alexandro quickly caught her.

"My lady," Agnes said, looking at her shocked. Alexandro quickly stood up, running to the physicians. He knew it was not time to discharge her, this is not the woman he knows, she is acting out of character. Meanwhile, Aurora and the other queens looked at the double doors in anger. The princess is more tactless than they thought. She just disrespected them all with her words, what is she playing at? Aurora remembered her words, she was indirectly telling them his majesty favoured her over them and she proved it because his majesty left everything behind to attend to her. She wanted to prove her point to them.

"How dare she," Madeline mumbled under her breath. Her heart has been filled with anger since his majesty punished her because of the princess, now she was raging. The princess has no idea who she is messing with.

"Let's all calm down, I heard the princess doesn't remember what happened, her condition is terrible. The physicians only allowed her to be discharged because she was tired of lying on the sick bed. A head injury is the worst type of injury," Sofia said, trying to ease the tension and they all glared at her.

"She just disrespected us with her words. She just called us filthy concubines," Stella said, her mouth opened in disbelief. She has never seen anyone with such audacity like her.

"I am sure she didn't mean that, the princess has never acted out of character before, she is a sweet lady, let's not all misunderstand her," she said. Madeline shunned her.

"The princess is unfiltered and problematic. Since she got to the palace, it's been chaotic. Let's all remember the princess didn't greet any of us when she got here, we are her superior, how dare she?" she snapped and the others backed her up.

"And what did she say about his majesty favouring her over us? Her lady simply lacked proper training," Stella said and Sofia sighed.

"What is wrong with his majesty favouring her over us? His majesty is allowed to have a favourite. He simply can't love all of us equally. His majesty has never crossed the line, he has treated us all with respect. Queen Madeline, you disrespected him and crossed the line by trying to seduce him when he didn't call for you. It is not the first time that has happened and it is not the first time he has punished you, why have you decided to put it on her lady's head?" Sofia asked, slowly losing her patient. For the longest time, she has remained calm, they bullied her for being his majesty's favourite but she never said a word, they all ride and match on her, but now her lady seems to be opening her eyes. She is only 25 years old, one year younger than she is but she is not a weakling like her, from now on, she won't allow herself to be bullied.

"And Queen Rose. You tried to kill her when she just got here. How bitter is your heart for you to do that? The princess never stepped on any toes, she was obviously sick that morning and we could all see it. But your jealousy almost caused her life, she could have died but thankfully she didn't. We all know his majesty should have punished you properly but he didn't, he even carried you to your chambers. And you all sit here and talk about his majesty favouring her over us. And even if he did?" she asked, breathing out as she looked at all of them.

"He is allowed to love someone, he is human too. As long as he treats us with respect which he never failed to do. He can't love us all equally. You all are already planning how to bully another woman? You want to see another woman die in the palace?" she asked, looking at them as she remembered her dear Emily.

Emily was her only friend, they bullied them both but at least they had each other. The bully got too much and she commited suicide. They all killed her for being his majesty favourite. And she wasn't, he only took her with him to the ball. Their hearts are filled with evil and they are already hating another woman, she didn't even stay up to 7 days and they already landed her on a sick bed. She stood up angrily, walking away and they just watched her go.

"She seems to be getting brave," Stella said, chuckling.

"The princess is fueling her," Madeline replied. Aurora watched her go and after she was out of sight, she turned to her food eating calmly. She hates disrepect and she has just being disrespected by Princess Daphne and queen Sofia and they would both pay dearly. She is not about to lose her title to some children. Sofia walked to the physicians and when she got there she saw Daphne passed out on the bed with sweat covering her forehead. His majesty wasn't here.

"How is she?" she asked her servant who was worried.

"The physicians said she overworked her body, your majesty. They have to keep her here till she fully heals," she said, her head bowed. Agnes thought her lady was pretending when she fainted, but when she got here she wasn't reacting to the physicians touch when they tapped her, she looked even pale. Her lady is not pretending at all, she knows head injury may take time to heal, if only her lady has not overworked herself.

"Poor girl," Sofia said, looking at her. She is so beautiful and peaceful when she sleeps. She wished his majesty had not brough her here, but who knows what husband she would have ended up with. She may have ended up with an abusive husband, but at least, his majesty has never raised his hand on a woman.

He is different from all the kings, including her father. She appreciates his majesty for marrying her, he may not know but he saved her from her father. His majesty is obviously in love with her, and she would do anything to protect their love. She sat on the bed, brushing her hair softly, she is weak but she would protect her like her life depends on it. Agnes looked at queen Sofia and she smiled. The way she looked at her was adorable and she was happy her lady had someone who could protect her in the future.
