Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: This Isn't Personal Grudge? No, This IS Personal Grudge!

On the other side, the same tall buildings, the same alley.

Maria Hill, who was pulled in, stumbled and stabilized herself, subconsciously firing a shot at Samuel beside her.

"Bang!"

This shot was aimed at the leg. Maria Hill wanted to create more favorable conditions for herself in this strange and unknown situation.

"Ding!"

"Combat detected, reward dropped: 5 points."

Samuel looked at the bullet hole in his trouser leg. Girls, appearance determines fate, figure determines life or death. Maria Hill has a good figure and good looks, so—

"Pay up."

Maria Hill's eyes widened in surprise. Paying up is fine, but first tell me why your leg can block a bullet?

"Bang bang bang—bang bang bang—"

Maria Hill clearly didn't know how lucky she was, daring to fire several shots at Samuel, emptying her clip, apparently not believing in evil.

She even shot him in the forehead, throat, heart, abdomen, and even the indescribable place, vividly demonstrating what it means to be reckless and spoiled by favor.

"Very good, now it's not something that can be solved by just paying up." Samuel was expressionless.

The powerful pressure made even Maria Hill, the Commander of S.H.I.E.L.D., not dare to contend with him, and she stumbled back a few steps.

"You—"

"Kneel, and I'll spare your life!"

Samuel spoke coldly, his crimson eyes making him look like a terrifying demon God.

Maria Hill's throat bobbed, and she mustered the courage to overcome her fear: "Impossible, I will never—"

"Bang!"

Samuel stomped his foot, mimicking the Ancient One. The ground rolled, and Maria Hill, caught off guard, immediately fell to her knees with a thud.

The atmosphere was awkward for a moment.

Just as Maria Hill was about to get up, the ground rolled again, lifting her up like a wave and bringing her before Samuel.

Looking up, Samuel struck down with his palm.

"Bang--" Maria Hill felt herself float up.

No, it wasn't a feeling, she really floated up, and she even saw 'herself' lying at Samuel's feet.

"I--I'm dead? Do people really have souls after they die?"

Amidst her surprise, Maria Hill's first reaction was: Didn't you say you would spare my life if I knelt down?

Although it was passive, I did kneel, so how could you go back on your word?

Maria Hill wasn't afraid of death, but dying so 'ignominiously' made her feel unwilling!

"I shouldn't have done anything worth S.H.I.E.L.D. investigating, so why did you investigate me?"

Samuel raised his hand, and the ground quickly rose, forming a stone chair.

He slowly sat down, looking at Maria Hill floating in her soul form.

"Jessica Jones!"

The reason Maria Hill knew about Samuel and investigated him was Jessica Jones.

"S.H.I.E.L.D. Threat Assessment Report?"

"You know about this too?"

The S.H.I.E.L.D. Threat Assessment Report is a list of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s assessments of individuals with special abilities and dangerous items.

Whenever a super-powered individual appears, S.H.I.E.L.D. will send a team to investigate and submit an asset assessment and inventory report.

This is followed by a comprehensive threat assessment and psychological evaluation.

S.H.I.E.L.D. will prioritize recruiting super-powered individuals into S.H.I.E.L.D. or the 'Avengers' program.

For those who do not join S.H.I.E.L.D., S.H.I.E.L.D. will conduct long-term surveillance.

And for those with high indices and psychological issues, S.H.I.E.L.D. will eliminate the threat.

"In our investigation of Jessica Jones, we found her emotional and psychological state to be very unstable.

If she continued to stay in contact with Tracy Walker, the presence of family would make her social relationships, emotions, and psychological state more stable."

"But, you appeared."

"You took her in, gave her a job, so we investigated you and found--you are very suspicious!"

"All your money was obtained by selling gold, silver, jewelry, and ornaments without proper procedures or sources.

We recovered some for investigation and discovered an incredible situation."

"There was a wedding ring, we found its owner, but the owner of the wedding ring was wearing another identical wedding ring on their hand."

"The owner of the wedding ring had never lost the ring, nor had they ever custom-ordered an identical ring!"

Maria Hill might have felt that since she was already dead, she wouldn't rest in peace without figuring out Samuel's identity, so the demeanor of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Commander gradually returned.

"Of course, this isn't important.

What's important is that we conducted an in-depth investigation into you and found that there were no traces of your past life at all, not a single trace related to you."

"It's as if you appeared out of thin air, as if you had never lived in this World before."

"Can you tell me, who exactly are you?"

Samuel calmly said, "I am someone you cannot afford to provoke."

Maria Hill was unwilling and continued to appeal to emotion and reason.

"S.H.I.E.L.D.'s duty is to protect the people from harm by special events and super-powered individuals.

I didn't want to provoke you, I just wanted to know your identity, the purpose of taking in Jessica Jones, and to confirm that you wouldn't cause harm."

"You should know better than anyone how much harm super-powered individuals like you can cause to ordinary people!"

"I hope you can understand, this is not a personal grudge, this is my duty."

"No, from the moment you fired the gun, this became a personal grudge!"

"Also, don't try to reason with me when I'm angry, I'm deaf!"
