Chapter 1 - Rebirth(1)

It's been a year now since my rebirth in this new world. The language here seems so foreign and not at the same time. Derrick, my father, is a priest of the Sun church of Lofan. And mother, the youngest daughter of Baron Von Maure.

Therefore, in this life, I, David Panzer, have been spoiled nonstop. In contrast to my previous life, I was shunned and scorned. So far, I've come to know about the empire and its many kingdoms, under the rule of Emperor Gandufa.

His empire encompasses the kingdom of Godon, renowned for its great wealth in commerce. Laumaski, the border between the eastern sea and the Eastern Empire. Finally, the last kingdom where the emperor resides is Harulel, a heavily fortified haven for nobles.

Currently, my family and I reside in the kingdom of Godon, where the Maure Barony is rooted, so is the Sun Church branch of the Godon kingdom. From what I've understood, Father has been a priestess for fifteen years, since the end of the war against the merfolk.

The Empire of Zeinz, under the rule of Emperor Gandufa, is one of many empires in this world. Beyond the empire, it is unknown how many other civilizations there are and how advanced they are currently.

Furthermore, everyone in this world is afflicted by the world's curse at birth. More of a miracle than a curse, it gave the inhabitants of this world the chance to grow strong. Like any other game back on Earth, it allowed the manipulation of stats.

Yet somehow, this floating transparent screen in front of me is invisible to father and mother. So far, I've confirmed that everyone else seems to train a specific way to level up a stat. But for me, it's as easy as earning points to upgrade a specific one I want.

Currently, I am at level 1, with stats of 1 strength, 5 intelligence, 3 i dexterity, 2 constitution, 5 charisma, and 4 in willpower. With my current build, I would say a mage or scholar would fit my future career in this life.

So did my parents when the Sun church evaluated my stats at birth. Right now, I'm still too young at one year old. What could I possibly do but shit, eat, and sleep?

" Derrick, my dear."

" Yes, Honey"

" I believe we should invest early and buy David some scriptures on elements and magic."

"Honey, you jest. He needs time."

" But dear Father has sent a letter that with David's talents, we really should start early."

" Well, if father thinks so too, then two against one. I've been outvoted, it seems." Derrick said cheekily.

Silvia playfully slaps Derrick's shoulder. She then went into the other room and brought back two scriptures. The Arcane Codex and The Mageborn Manuscript. One book on the desk, in her arms, David and the Arcane Codex.

She began to read from the first page aloud to David. Derrick shook his head and began to set the table. What could he do when even the Baron wanted his son to pursue a magical path?

From what Mother's read to me, it seems there are two ways to utilize magic. Internally and externally. Internally, the usual allowed a person to exert magic that they've collected and cast spells.

The other method was to store the magic within one's being. Moving the magic towards the legs, chest, arms, or head, based on whatever they wished to do. From punching holes through walls. To jump higher than gnorahera, a beast taller than a giraffe on Earth, except it's also a carnivore. The more magic concentrated within one's body, it slowly evolved into Aura.

Combine the two, and you would get a Magic Warrior or Knight in this world. Highly praised individuals who chose to follow both paths of magic.

To me, I would rather choose Aura, because to me it just makes more sense. Casting magic was longer and gave way for me to be vulnerable. Whilst Aura would allow me to be on the offensive rather than play defensively.

....

Hah*hah*

I can't believe Mother would hire such a lunatic to be my mentor. She's basically bullying me!

Clang!

" Focus, David, how dare you think of other things whilst sparring with me?"

What should I do, no matter how I swing, she would counter it right away. stepping backwards with my left foot, I switched my grip, and pushed the center of gravity closer to the hilt of my blade. And swung with all I got towards Mrs. Emily's open guard. Or so I thought.

She deflected it so easily and simply threw a basic jab. Which forced me to lose my grip, with no weapon in hand, I had no choice.

" I yield."

" Get some rest." Mrs. Emily would nonchalantly wave her hand.

There were so many things I could've done, but I chose wrong. Out of the forty sparring sessions we've had, Emily's won all of them. I guess she really is a B-Rank adventurer, even though she's retired.

Breathing heavily, David was defeated. Ever since three months ago, Emily's been mentoring David on swordmanship. While she bore a regular sword, David chose to use a great sword. It's been seven years, although he knew it was inevitable, he did not expect his Mother would hire a mentor when he was barely eight years old.

In a world where adulthood was considered to begin at 15, his mother would, of course, begin his training early. His mentor Emily was just nine years older than himself.

Pat* Pat*

Emily stood over David, her hand began to rustle through his blond hair. Her left arm sleeve rustled with the wind.

" Get up, David, that's it for today, you seem out of it."

" Yes, Master."

" Jeeze, just call me Big Sister already," Emily said playfully.

David and Emily walked together, and they reached the Panzer house, where his Mother waited patiently. Twelve feet away, David could tell something was afoot.

His Mother dropped her handkerchief and ran towards him. Grasping him tight in her embrace, she began to weep.
