Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Zombies

Although Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki were also affected by the light, they had been prepared from the start and hadn't actually looked directly at Yang Xiao's fingertip. After all, Denki Kaminari was a living example.

Kyoka Jiro was completely unaffected because she hadn't looked at Yang Xiao's finger at all. While she was very curious about Yang Xiao's Quirk, she was smart enough not to get caught off guard like Kaminari had.

Yang Xiao felt he might have gone a little overboard, but he had controlled his Quirk. The flash's intensity wasn't extreme, so it shouldn't have caused any permanent damage, right?

Just then, a few students passed by the door of Class 1-A. One of them peered inside curiously and was immediately so frightened he let out a sharp cry.

"Holy crap, what happened to Class A?"

"Let me see, what's wrong?" Another person came over and saw a startling scene through the door crack.

Every student was frantically groping around with their eyes closed, looking like a horde of zombies.

Zombies?

"It's over, it's over!" the boy yelled, "Class A has been infected with a zombie virus! Go notify the teachers!"

"Hurry, let's tell our class first!" The passers-by ran off. This was way too terrifying.

"Who's touching me!" Mina Ashido shouted angrily. She forced her eyes open and found she could actually see. At that moment, Minoru Mineta was behind her, groping around with his hands.

Wham! Mina Ashido punched Minoru Mineta squarely in the face. Mineta was sent flying, hit the wall, and started bleeding from his nose.

"It hurts so much..." Mineta began to cry. He had just been groping blindly; he didn't even know what he had touched. It felt soft and round, and then he got punched.

It took a few minutes for everyone to gradually recover from the effects of the bright flash. Luckily, no one was seriously injured, or Yang Xiao would have been in real trouble.

"Yang Xiao-kun, your Quirk can deal serious damage if you catch the enemy off guard! That's so manly!" Eijiro Kirishima wasn't angry; instead, he spoke excitedly.

Katsuki Bakugo was a bit skeptical. If Yang Xiao's Quirk was really just this, then using this trick against a villain would be useless—it'd be an instant kill.

But this guy had actually managed to stand out and get into Class 1-A of the Hero Course. The reason behind it was self-evident, though probably only Yang Xiao himself knew the full story.

"What's going on? Who's infected?" A man's voice called out as the door to Class 1-A was pushed open. Behind him stood Recovery Girl and several students from the Hero Course's Class 1-B.

However, the man found everything in Class 1-A to be perfectly normal, so he turned to look at the people behind him.

"Neito Monoma, are you kidding me?" the man, who was likely their teacher, said somewhat displeased. This was clearly a false alarm. There was nothing wrong with Class 1-A.

Neito Monoma was one of the students who had passed by Class 1-A earlier. Hearing his teacher, he immediately stepped forward and saw all the Class A students staring at him. He froze.

Just a moment ago... weren't they all zombies?

How was everything normal again after just a few minutes?

Damn, are you kidding me?

"Yosetsu Awase, are you seeing things? You got me fooled too?" Neito Monoma turned to look at Yosetsu Awase behind him.

Yosetsu Awase said, "You saw it with your own eyes earlier, how could I be lying to you?"

"Dammit!" Neito Monoma thought to himself that there was no way to explain this now; he was definitely going to be punished by the teacher.

"Never mind, since everything's fine, I'll head back first," Recovery Girl waved her hand and turned to leave, leaving the Class B teacher standing there, staring at Neito Monoma. "Having fun, are we?"

"No, sensei, listen to me—" Before Monoma could finish, he was cut off by his teacher. "You three, come to my office."

Class 1-A only started buzzing again after Monoma and the others left. They were all confused. What zombies?

"Who were those guys just now?"

"No idea."

"They seem to be from Class B. I've seen them before."

Yang Xiao breathed a sigh of relief. The incident was over. Moreover, in the eyes of his Class A peers, his Quirk was one suited for sneak attacks but lacked destructive power.

In other words, if Yang Xiao encountered someone who could counter his Quirk, he'd be in a tough spot. At the very least, his light-emitting Quirk wouldn't give him any advantage in a direct fight.

Its only strong point was the flash, which could be used to launch unexpected sneak attacks by blinding opponents.

After school, Yang Xiao had a bowl of noodles at Fat Brother's place and then went to report to the "Broken Affairs Office." It was getting dark, but it wasn't yet time to handle the core office's business. Toga was also in the main office, leisurely playing on her phone.

"Yang Xiao, I feel like having some juice," Toga said, turning her head to look at Yang Xiao, who was sitting blankly in his chair.

Yang Xiao had been distracted, thinking about what happened at school that day. Now that Toga mentioned wanting a drink, he stood up, ready to go buy some.

"Don't go. Let's start work early today. There are a lot of documents that need processing. Yang Xiao, close the shutter door and come inside," Ginpachi called out, heading into the inner room.

Toga was a bit unhappy. Given her personality, life seemed to lose its color without a drink.

"Let's go finish our work first," Yang Xiao shrugged, indicating he had no choice but to comply.

After the two entered the core area of the Broken Affairs Office, they found Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura all there. When the three saw Yang Xiao and Toga arrive, they smiled. Shinpachi said cheerfully, "Hurry up, these documents were originally for you two to sort. Come and get to work."

Yang Xiao had no objections. He walked over and started learning how to organize the files. Toga, however, said angrily, "I want juice!"

Her voice was a bit loud, and everyone looked at Toga. Gintoki clicked his tongue and asked, "Do you have to have juice?"

"Yes, I do!" Toga was very stubborn at that moment. If she didn't get some benefit, she wasn't going to work. No way.

"Shinpachi, take her to get a drink," Gintoki waved his hand. The Broken Affairs Office wasn't as simple as it seemed. They kept emergency rations and daily necessities here.

Shinpachi shrugged and walked over to Toga. "Alright, come on, I'll take you to get some juice."

Toga smiled and followed Shinpachi into another room. Ten seconds later, an exclamation of surprise and excited voices came from that room.

In front of them was a huge refrigerator. Not only was it stocked with juice, but there were also hundreds of bottles of various alcoholic beverages, all different brands!

What was the deal with this shabby office? Could they normally throw parties here?

"You can take whatever you want to drink, but only one bottle at a time," Shinpachi said proudly, then sat down to the side. This room was specifically for entertainment and was fully equipped.

Don't be fooled by the core office area being just over a hundred square meters. The rooms beyond it were a whole different world. The entertainment room alone was over a hundred square meters and had everything—a billiards table, ping pong, game consoles—it was like a small clubhouse.
