Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Is it for money or belief?

Seeing the newcomer, Da-Young rushed to him and hugged him, crying.

Manager Kim patted Da-Young's back to calm her down, then looked at Baki and asked, "Who are you?"

Baki could feel the dangerous aura emanating from the man. He gussed that this was the new recruit of White Tiger Job Center.

Thin steel wires shot from Manager Kim's hands. Baki dodged as the wires sliced past his face. He countered with a straight punch, but Manager Kim sidestepped, his wires coiling around Baki's extended arm.

"Not bad," Baki grinned, twisting violently to break free. The wires cut shallow lines across his forearm.

Manager Kim remained expressionless, flicking his wrists. The wires formed a lethal web. Baki weaved between the threads. One wire wrapped around Baki's ankle. Manager Kim yanked hard, sending him stumbling. But Baki used the momentum, rolling forward and launching a kick that forced Manager Kim back.

"I'm Baki Hanma from White Tiger Job Center. I guess you're the new recruit, old man," Baki said to Manager Kim.

Manager Kim nodded. "Yes. Sorry for attacking first. I'll take Da-Young out of here. Follow me." Baki shrugged but did as Manager Kim said.

As they reached the upper deck, gunfire could be heard. The Yakuzas were shooting at Shin Seong-Ho in the steering house.

Manager Kim smashed his elbow into the face of one of the men at the back. Another looked back while pivoting his pistol, but Manager Kim kicked his jaw, sending him flying backwards. Then he grabbed the gun from midair and started shooting at enemies as he moved forward.

After finishing off everyone, he moved to the steering house.

Inside, Shin Seong-Ho and Kang Ho-Seok were panicking—Shin Seong-Ho didn't know how to stop the ship. The control panel was smoking from the earlier gunfire.

Manager Kim immediately took control and tried to slow it down as much as possible. But the ship crashed into the port.

Chairman Ahn and Tom Lee stood at the port, watching the massive ship coming toward them. Chairman Ahn's guards started to run in panic, but he stood there still. The ship smashed into the port and stopped just in front of them. Chairman Ahn's aide shielded him from the water and debris.

Tom Lee drank water and murmured, seeing the destroyed ship, "Hiya~ This is magnificent. But what to do—the ship is a bit expensive. I'll have to have Manager Kim pay up on his first mission~"

Manager Kim and Baki walked out with Da-Young. Seeing Manager Kim, Tom Lee shouted, "Oi, Manager Kim! Why didn't you answer my calls? I had to send another member too. In the end, you made me, the manager general, come in person~ Are you going to wrap up work this way, huh?"

Manager Kim replied, "I apologize. Something came up."

Tom Lee closed in. "Something? What thing? Did Yeongcheol not tell you? That we don't act unless it's upon request. You must have forgotten because it was your first time... right?"

Manager Kim remained silent. Seeing the deteriorating situation, Baki intervened. "Old man, the result came out the same, didn't it? And if he hadn't acted first, we would've lost the mission."

Tom Lee glanced at Baki, then asked Manager Kim again, "Are you not going to answer? Oi, Manager Kim. Manager K.I.M."

Suddenly, Shin Seong-Ho called out, "Hy-Hy-Hy-Hyung-nim! That bastard there! He's alive!"

Fujimori Yuuki came out of the ship, mumbling something. Tom Lee was already furious at Manager Kim, so seeing Fujimori Yuuki interrupt him made him lash out.

Seeing Tom Lee, Fujimori Yuuki asked, "Who's this bastard? Are you that Korean's underling? I'll—"

Before he could finish, Tom Lee punched him in the stomach, followed by rapid punches. It was an instant kill. Fujimori Yuuki's dead body lay on the port. Tom Lee said, "The adults are talking. So read the air and leave."

Nearby, Shin Seong-Ho was shocked seeing Tom Lee casually kill such a strong opponent. Baki watched the scene with interest. "He was holding back at the interview?!"

Tom Lee returned to Manager Kim and asked, "Oi, Manager Kim. I'll ask you one more time. Did you or did you not know you moved without a request?"

Manager Kim pondered for a while before taking a fighting stance. "...I was aware. But I couldn't pretend I didn't know. I apologize. My beliefs are still more important than money."

Tom Lee's face darkened. He gritted his teeth and said, "Hoho, is that so? But what to do? Money is my belief. Oi, Manager Kim, let me ask one more time. Is it for money or for belief?"

Manager Kim replied, "I am sorry—" Tom Lee punched at Manager Kim's gut. Manager Kim succeeded in blocking it at the last moment, but the impact sent him flying backwards. Tom Lee followed with a rapid flurry of punches and slammed Manager Kim down on the ground.

At the last moment, Manager Kim twisted his body, grabbed Tom Lee's tie and bound Tom Lee with it. Then he flipped forward and kicked Tom Lee's jaw. He rushed to punch Tom Lee again, but his punch was caught by Baki.

"Can both of you calm down? This is not the place to fight. And old man, your belief has backfired—the client is attacking our men instead. Also, Manager Kim, you could've informed this old man here. Why don't we just accept a truce for now?"
