Chapter 184 - The Disaster on Xandar

With Peter's command, a phantom slowly materialized in front of him.

At first, the phantom was just countless lines of digital code, but it quickly coalesced into a humanoid form.

It looked somewhat like T'Challa in his Black Panther suit.

It was probably a phantom designed based on the Black Panther.

Peter didn't hesitate and charged forward, engaging the Black Panther phantom in combat.

Peter spent the entire morning in the virtual combat room, only emerging at lunchtime.

After coming out, he felt like he had been elevated.

In the past, although he had also acquired many combat skills from several Spider-Men and integrated them into himself, creating a unique [Spider Combat Style].

But because his strength was inherently greater than that of ordinary people, Peter was always careful to hold back his strength during normal actions and combat, lest he accidentally obliterate his opponent.

But no matter how he held back, the overwhelming power was inevitable.

Peter wasn't a masochist, deliberately suppressing himself.

When he fought, he usually analyzed his opponent's power limit through a few brief contacts, then seized the opportunity to strike precisely at their defensive weaknesses with enough force to crush them without killing them, defeating them in one fell swoop.

This method was indeed effective.

But over time, it caused Peter to lose some control over his techniques.

It was like playing a game and always going to low-level matches to bully the noobs. Over time, some of your habits would go astray, and you might really become a "noob" in the end.

A noob with some skill.

Peter wouldn't forget the combat skills he already possessed, but always playing low-level matches would make him lose that sense of urgency when facing high-level matches; he wouldn't feel the pressure during the fight.

Up until now, the closest he'd come to experiencing a "normal match" was probably when he'd traveled to other worlds.

The Spider-Men in those worlds, while still physically superior to most villains, didn't have such a massive power gap compared to him.

Especially in the Amazing Spider-Man world, where the mutants he encountered possessed incredible abilities.

His fight against Magneto had given him a taste of a "high-end match."

However, he hadn't relied on technique in that fight; instead, he'd used sheer power, brute force to overcome.

This wasn't a good sign for the battles ahead.

Thanos and his Black Order weren't the street thugs he was used to fighting.

Based on descriptions, even Magneto's combat power at the time might not measure up to them.

Peter wasn't sure how his physical abilities stacked up against Thanos and Cull Obsidian.

Strange had described them as incredibly powerful, and he felt that even wearing the Second Generation Venom Suit, he might not be able to defeat them!

So, when he discovered that Wakanda's virtual combat room could hone his combat skills, he was overjoyed. He immersed himself in it, giving himself a thorough upgrade.

Deep in the cosmic void.

The Andromeda Galaxy.

There was once a very prosperous planet here, called Xandar.

It used to be a huge economic and trade center, quite famous in several nearby star regions.

This was because on Xandar, there was a very powerful army called the Nova Corps.

The Nova Corps possessed extremely advanced technology, as well as extremely strong joint combat capabilities. Not long ago, they even defeated Ronan, the ruler of the invading Kree Empire.

That battle, though the Guardians of the Galaxy intervened, still brought the Nova Corps a great deal of fame.

After all, the Kree Empire itself was a very powerful interstellar hegemon.

Especially those who didn't know about the Guardians of the Galaxy, or hadn't witnessed the battle firsthand, would unhesitatingly attribute the credit to the Nova Corps.

For a time, Xandar became even more prosperous.

However, at this moment, prosperous Xandar had become a complete ruin.

The originally towering buildings were now all piles of rubble.

The massive economic and trade center was flattened by some kind of strange force; the Nova Corps' command center also seemed to be destroyed by some kind of attack; the bustling streets were now almost devoid of the living.

Oh, wait, if those corpses could be considered "people," then there were many "people."

At this moment, many half-human, half-insect Sakarran Mercenaries were enjoying the post-war revelry in the ruins.

This is their feast!

Some starving Sakarran Mercenaries were sprawled on the ground, burying themselves in the bodies beneath them and feasting voraciously.

Others, a bit more refined, tore off an arm or a plump thigh from the corpses, sitting on the ground to savor their meal slowly.

Still others, having already eaten their fill, were under the command of their squad leader, transporting the bodies to the parked space landing ship nearby.

These corpses were their spoils.

They would transport them back to their home planet, offer them to their queen, and even use them to bear offspring.

In stark contrast to the savagery of the Sakarran Mercenaries was the Chitauri Army on the other side.

Although they looked similar to the Sakarran Mercenaries, they displayed strict military discipline at this moment.

Chitauri infantrymen, each holding an energy rifle, lined up in formation under the guidance of their officers, and boarded the deck that opened beneath the Leviathan, returning to the internal compartments.

A fleet of Chitauri flying vehicles flew in an orderly fashion across the sky, heading towards outer space. They were returning to the Chitauri mothership parked in a near-surface orbit around Xandar.

There were also some Chitauri heavy landing infantry, grouped in pairs, with two of them leading a giant Chitauri Giant Ape.

In the highest point below, amidst the ruins, was once the command center of the Nova Corps on Xandar.

At this moment, an unusually burly figure sat casually amidst the ruins of the Nova Corps command center. He had a square face, a broad nose, and a wide chin that looked as if it had been slashed by a knife. There was no expression on his purple face.

Queen Adora of Xandar knelt before this person, her hair disheveled, her face ashen with defeat. Her clothes were tattered, revealing glimpses of her.

Her originally meticulously maintained appearance had now become indistinguishable from that of a beggar wandering the cosmos.

"The people of Xandar have no grievances or grudges with you, so why did you suddenly attack us!" Adora shouted with a hoarse voice.

Around her in the ruins, corpses lay everywhere.

Among them were the corpses of Nova Corps soldiers in uniform, as well as the corpses of ordinary Xandarians civilians, and even many alien travelers who had come to Xandar from other planets.

However, he wouldn't care about any of that.

For him, any life was on his list to be eliminated.

Because he was Thanos!
