Chapter 11 - 011. Rebecca

Seed and Rebecca drank and ate chicken wings in an awkward silence, both fearing to utter something that might be embarrassing.

But the uncomfortable silence broke when seed decided to man Up and Ask Rebecca some questions.

"Soo, Rebecca...What brought you to ashwick? It isn't exactly the kind of town that an artist as good as you chooses to debut in.."

Seed saw Her brows raise a bit, it seemed he had hit the nail on the head with that question because it had obviously gotten her attention.

"Uhh, y–you think my art is g–good?" Rebecca's stuttered, staring into seed's eyes hopefully.

"Yeah! Definitely, I mean....scary but definitely good".seed replied, thinking about the art works of hers he had seen the day before when he broke into her apartment.

She didn't paint cartoons or Landscape scenery or people like the Mona Lisa, she painted very Odd and scary stuff.

The first one that stuck in his mind was one of a headless figure staggering down a misty street, another one was a silhouette of a woman head bent and crying what seemed to be blood sky. And the last one he could remember was of a man smiling awkwardly while slumped in a chair, chest ripped open like a gutted fish.

They all seemed very odd and out of this world, and now, watching her blush over wings and beer, he couldn't help but wonder how a cute, harmless looking girl could've thought up such horrors and painted them Now

"A bit too scary for me but can't deny they look splendid, I'd but each for 10k dollars if I could" seed jested while reaching for another piece of chicken wings.

Rebecca was pleased with his reply, it was obvious she took pride and pleasure in her works, but after smiling for a while and chatting, her mood dropped and an air of seriousness came upon them.

"What's wrong?" Seed asked.

"Actually, seed, what do you think about.. yesterday?" Rebecca asked, setting aside her empty can of beer, she seemed to be tipsy but seed could tell that the question wasn't due to the alcohol. She definitely wanted a serious answer.

"What do you mean?" Seed asked.

"Come on, The hair strangling me! You saw it too! it definitely wasn't... natural". Rebecca said, shivering as she clutched her shoulders.

"it's—it's not my first time, you know? Experiencing things like this... I think—....I think I'm cursed, Seed. Either that or I'm going crazy."

Seeing the tense atmosphere, seed got up and sat closer to Rebecca. He could tell the experience was messing with her mental health, so he thought about opening up to her.

"You're not going crazy, Rebecca. I saw it too, all of that was definitely real". Seed said while comforting Rebecca by putting his hands on her shoulder.

"Oh. thank God....thank you, seed" Rebecca bursted into tears, it seemed as if she had been waiting for some kind of comfort in forever and her introverted nature didn't allow her experience such. Seed held onto her as she cried onto his chests, it felt like the days when he used to comfort his little sister, Lila, whenever she cried about when losing their parents in an accident seven years ago.

"There, There. It's gonna be alright, Lila" seed said to Rebecca as quickly realised he has just mistook her for Lila for a moment so he tried to hide the awkwardness by patting her head .....which just made the atmosphere worse.

"Ac—Actually, There's something I want to show you, it's the reason I came all the way to a small town like ashwick." Rebecca said and she stood up and quickly ran out of seed's apartment.

Leaving seed in an awkward position where he couldn't help but feel like he had walked right into the exact embarrassing situation he had been trying to avoid.

Then Rebecca ran back into the Apartment, holding a sketch book in her hands, it seemed she had ran over to her place to fetch it for some reason, was she gonna draw a portrait of him as a thank you reward? But given her artistic 'tendencies' and style, seed wasn't all that Excited about it.
