Davina's POV
Moving back to my family's place to prep for Astoria felt weird. Packing everything up again brought this strange mix of oddness and relief.
My interview was only days away.
I still couldn't wrap my head around how Chase had made this happen. Or rather, how his friend had pulled it off. This company was massive—the type that didn't hire people without solid experience and the right connections. I could barely convince myself I deserved a shot at a place like that.
Chase's friend had sworn I'd land the position. Just like that. Complete certainty.
But promises weren't contracts. Life had let me down too many times for me to trust anything that easily.
If this fell through, I'd keep sending out applications. Other companies existed. Other opportunities would come. I had Cooper to consider. I'd take whatever came my way.
Yet underneath all the strategizing, the anxiety, and the act of staying strong... something else was gnawing at me.
The visions.
