Davina's POV
I sat perched on my bed's edge, staring at the packed luggage positioned near the doorway.
Everything had been prepared. Cooper's and my clothing had been carefully folded and crammed into the cases.
Our Astoria flight was scheduled for tomorrow morning. A fresh start was approaching, ready or not.
I exhaled deeply, running my fingers through my hair, attempting to avoid overthinking.
The door suddenly burst open with a thunderous crash, and Cooper rushed inside, giggles spilling from him like a melody. His small legs moved as rapidly as possible, his movements quick and awkward like a puppy pursuing happiness.
Directly behind him came Calista, her face contorted into a theatrical frown, arms extended as if preparing to strike.
"Save me!" Cooper shrieked, plunging into the room. "Mama, Aunt Calista's trying to destroy me!"
I blinked, laughing as Cooper leaped onto the bed and coiled his little arms around my throat.
