Chapter 273 - 273-Give Me Your Truth

Iris:

"I really don't understand anything," James said to me, looking extremely guilty.

I felt bad seeing him like that. It wasn't right that he had to carry the burden of what Luca had done.

"You don't need to feel guilty. I know you had nothing to do with this. You had no part in it," I repeated, trying to calm him down.

But he kept avoiding my gaze, as if I had accused him too.

"She keeps telling you again and again that she trusts you completely," my father added, stepping in to calm James.

"Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that my son did all of this," James replied.

Seeing the pain in his eyes made me feel truly awful.

I couldn't understand why Luca had stooped so low. What was he lacking?

Then it hit me. This wasn't the first time. He had been hinting at this for a while. Even when we were in the East, Luca had only pretended to be on our side.

I just couldn't understand what he gained from doing all this.
