Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 Rodem City

I open my eyes, I feel a slight shiver, I concentrate on my senses, it's what a hunter would do, I subtly feel the fear approaching in the distance.

I stand up, if danger approaches and there are no options, I will fight for my life until my last breath.

I've been waiting for a few hours, and they didn't open or report.

To the sky is already beginning to get dark, no matter what, the darkness is dangerous outside, it is better to get rid of the first problems.

I run towards the fear, I tighten the grip of my dagger. What approaches is a pack of 13 killer dogs.

One of them is bigger and more muscular than the rest, nearly six feet tall.

"That fucker must be a 2-skull," I think, as I run towards one of the dogs from the side and with one thrust I pierce the chest of the killer dog that was surprised by my sudden attack.

[You have killed a 1 skull monster: +0.3.]

The other dogs attacked, but I back up in time to dodge the 1-skull dogs, but the 2-skull killer dog jumps at me.

The 2-skulled dog opens its jaws with sharp teeth, I allow it to approach.

I watch every move of the killer dog using my enhanced senses, I tighten my grip on the dagger and make a horizontal slash towards the killer dog's jaws.

Blood!

A shower of blood and the top half of the killer dog's head flies through the air when hit by the magic cut of the dagger.

[You have killed a 2 skull monster: +0.8]

I regret a little for having used one of the three spells, but to make up for it I must kill the remaining 11 killer dogs.

I inhale and exhale, run to one of the dogs in the corner, stab it through the eye and brain with a lunge.

[You have killed a 1 skull monster: +0.3]

I shake off the goo and blood on my dagger and leap towards another one of the dogs and manage to pierce its skull.

After the confusion caused by the death of the alpha killer dog, three killer dogs leap into the attack, but I swiftly jump into their midst and chase the cowardly dogs that are trying to escape.

The first one I reach I pierce the top of its head with my dagger and then leap towards the next one.

[You have killed a 1 skull monster: +0.3]

I jump until I reach the next dog that wants to escape and as I reach it I pierce its neck and its blood spurts out.

[You have killed a 1 skull monster: +0.3]

I am so focused, I attribute it to the quality of fear that is projected through my profession as a hunter.

There is blood on my clothes, hands and part of my face. The other three dogs following me hesitate, and I leap towards them.

Cut!

Blood!

I cut their throats with ease.

"It's a pity, four of them got away."

I approach the bodies and extract the cores from them, there are 8 cores in total, as I drag the body of the 2-skull killer dog to the brown iron door. The sky has already darkened, more dangerous monsters or supernatural beings may soon appear.

"Place the points in agility," I indicate in my mind.

[Agility: raised from 15.21 to 18.41.]

As I reach the brown door I watch as a 1 meter x 1 meter square emergency entrance opens in the iron door.

-I thought you were just disposable trash. I'm glad I came to see you. I'm Lizand Ingriet, C-ranked hunter from Rodem City.

An attractive woman of almost 1.80 meters tall, with long, shiny black hair, black eyes that reflect a confident look, tanned skin, with a toned body that has good curves, wearing a tight black sweater, black leather pants, wearing black leather gloves that partially cover her hands, tells me with an enthusiastic and confident tone:

-Join Z Squadron, we will offer you better resources than the training camp can offer you.

It is evident how she imposes the presence of a C-ranked hunter on an E-ranked hunter. Apparently fear is an oppressive and dissuasive power against the weak.

-You don't think what you said sounds like a typical scam. -I try to test the mood of the huntress.

-Do you want to stay outside these walls? -She asked me, trying to sound confident, but she wasn't very good at acting.

-Maybe it's my destiny to wait here. -I answered sitting down and leaning my back against the wall.

-The training center is not that easy, are you sure? -He asked staring at me.

-I have two conditions, since I made a promise. Otherwise I will go to the training camps. -I answer.

She waits, then I answer her:

-I promised that I would use the weapons made by a craftswoman who makes firearms, the other is that I will not sign a contract, especially if I do not get benefits based on my merits.

-Done. -She quickly replied and smiled.

"Why do I feel that I was swindled anyway?", I think and stand up.

She approaches the entrance at the brown door and says to me:

-Take the monster core out of that thing, no one will open the door at this hour.

After listening to the words of the hunter Lizand, I approach the killer dog, open its chest with my dagger and take out the core, after that I follow the hunter to the other side of the iron door.

I bend down to cross, and as I enter the city I see old buildings, there is a musty smell in the air, some buildings more than old seem to be in ruins, the few lights are from some street lamps quite distant from each other on the sidewalks, from where I am candle lights can be seen, in the windows of some buildings.
