Chapter 8 - Caelen Is Pregnant

Caelen was settled on a seat beside Liam in his classroom during the class. The professor's voice echoed in the class, and everyone was focused on taking notes.

A sour wave churned in Caelen's stomach, rising up with each shallow breath. He pressed his hand against his mouth, but a gag escaped his mouth loud enough to make everyone glance at him.

He tried to ignore it as he looked down, but another wave rose, making him gag again uncontrollably. He almost knocked his chair in a rush and bolted out of the class, one hand clumped at his mouth.

He grabbed the edge of the sink as his body convulsed and gagging echoed in the restroom. When it finally eased, he walked out of the stall and stood in front of the mirror and washed his face.

"Don't tell me you got knocked up," Liam casually asked during lunch.

"Task, what the hell are you...." Caelen couldn't complete his sentence as the scene from One night stand played in his head. Yeah, he didn't use condoms!

"That bustard!" Those words came out of Caelen's mouth unintentionally, and he looked at Liam before getting up and sprinting out. Liam was left baffled.

He entered the convenience store bought a pregnancy test stick and rushed home. The stick was placed on the worn out carpet as Caelen's eyes were fixed on it. He was leaning against the bed. His colour turned paler with time as he couldn't move his eyes off the stick. The two lines clearly meant he was pregnant.

"That fucking bustard!" He swore under his breath and tilted his head to look at the ceiling. He couldn't move for hours from there, his head went blank, and he couldn't think much.

"Ahhhhh," he rubbed his hands against his face as his breath trembled. He placed his trembling hand on his belly gently but quickly pulled away. He gulped and opened his phone. He sniffed taking a deep breath and searched for abortion.

"An appointment?" He mumbled. "Money again? I don't even have anything to eat properly."

He stood up to lay on the bed and took a blanket over him. He couldn't sleep but kept his eyes closed.

He was spacing out the next day in the class he didn't move even when they were done with all the classes. His eyes stared down at the book in front of him and his hands tucked into his pants.

"Caelen!" Liam shook his shoulder as he wasn't responding. "Are you okay?"

Caelen finally came to reality. "Ahhh, I am just feeling a little bit hazy don't worry a little rest will do." Caelen got up, collecting his things, and walked away.

"What's wrong with him?" Ramia asked scratching her head.

"I don't know," Liam replied walking out along with Ramia. "He has been acting weird lately."

"How long has it been?" the female doctor asked Caelen.

Caelen was not listening as he scrapped his hand with his nails, looking at the flowers at the table.

"How long has it been?" The doctor's voice got louder this time, and Caelen snapped out at the sharp sound.

"Barely a month," Caelen's voice was too weak.

"Then abortion tablets will be enough, no need to make an appointment," the doctor recommended. "Do you suffer any complications?" she further asked to avoid side effects.

"No." Caelen looked at the doctor, who was too nonchalant talking about a little life, and Caelen felt weird about it.

How could she be so calm? Oh right, she does this every day, it's her work. Caelen's eyes didn't leave the sight of her facial expressions.

"I recommend you these abortion pills. If that doesn't work, you can come back for further instructions," she slipped a paper scribbled with recommended pills, sliding it over to Caelen.

"Does it not work sometimes?" Caelen asked curiously.

"Yeah, sometimes the baby successfully resists the dosage, and we have to recommend a stronger dosage for the process to complete successfully."

The doctor explained further, "You need to get admitted. Please keep in mind that your pregnancy is in the early stage that's why it might be easier to get an abortion, but it always comes with side effects and complications. You might develop some kind of hormonal disorder or even pheromone imbalance. It might also result in reproductive disorders."

Caelen wasn't listening at all, and he kept thinking about what she told him about resistance earlier.

When she was done Caelen grabbed the paper and walked out. Such a tiny life, it still tries to fight for its life! Fascinating.

He bought the pills and walked home. He felt guilty every time his eyes met little kids, and he avoided looking at them.

The doctor recommended him to get admitted for better care, but he couldn't afford it. He grabbed a glass of water and placed the pills in front of him.

A glimpse of his father holding him ran through his mind, and he burst out crying as he buried his face in his knees.

"What's so difficult, stupid," he whined through muffled sobs.

Caelen looked up at the picture on the wall. "Papa, you said you never even thought about abortion, how could you? You never even knew who slept with you, how could you decide on keeping me the moment you learnt that you were pregnant?"

The answer was simple, and Caelen already knew it. Loren was too kind to think of something like abortion. He slept with an Alpha when he was drunk while he was working as a server in the bar. The guest kept pushing drinks on him, and he never remembered anything after that. He woke up in a bed all naked. Later he found out that he was pregnant with Caelen.

While Caelen was struggling to decide because he knew the life of a single father. His father got hit just to keep Caelen safe and fed.

"Papa, I am pregnant," Caelen sniffled. "Are you happy to know?"

He continued after a long pause, "You would be, cause I know you would never agree with abortion. Papa, should I keep the baby?"

He leaned back at the bed. Exactly, I am the one agreeing to sleep with someone just for revenge. It's my karma. Why would I blame a little soul for that.

His tears dripped down on the bedsheet. His sobs got a little louder, and he once again buried his face in his knees.
